Things to consider when going to Paraguay • It is better to go to Paraguay with American dollars, as the rate of euro is not profitable here. Most shops in Paraguay are selling for cash. Asunción is an exception, but even there, you can’t pay with a card everywhere. • Smoking is forbidden on the streets, and the fines for smoking are very high. Indeed, locals sometimes allow themselves to ignore this rule, but tourists are better off not getting into trouble. Restaurants and cafes usually have designated smoking areas. • When getting ready for shopping, you should take into account that from 12 PM to 3 PM, there is a siesta here, and small shops can be closed. However, this does not apply to large shops. • The climate in eastern Paraguay is humid, and there are many insects. Therefore, when going out to nature, be sure to stock up on resistant repellents.
