to achieve VMIECR production and sales cooperation with
major suppliers such as Procter & Gamble ( 1989 ) and so on.

 Between 1985 and 1987 , Wal-Mart invested $ 400 million to

launch a commercial satellite from Tess. Since then, the
company headquarters has been in contact with more than
2,400 branches, 100 distribution centers and thousands of
suppliers worldwide through satellite and common computer
systems.

 In 1995 , Wal-Mart, its supplier Warner Lambert , and his
management software developers jointly established the Retail
Supply and Demand Chain Working Group to carry out
cooperative planning, forecasting and replenishment ( CPFR ),
and its research and application have been very successful .

 The combination of advanced business management ideas and

information technology has enabled Wal-Mart to get rid of the
scattered and weak image of the traditional retail industry, and
has created a new era of industrialized operation of the retail
industry.

Effective Information in
( 1 )
Supply Chains
Information must be correct
Without information describing the true state of the
supply chain, it is difficult to make scientific
decisions. This does not require all information to
be 100% correct, but requires that all the facts
described by the obtained information are at least
directional.
( 2 ) Information must be available in a timely
manner
Accurate information often exists, but it is either
outdated or not in an inappropriate form. To make
scientific decisions, managers need timely and
available information.
( 3 ) Information must be exactly required
The importance of information
management in the supply
chain
 The effective operation of supply chain depends on high-

quality information transmission and information sharing.

Therefore, sufficient and effective information is the key to
the success of supply chain management.

 A successful supply chain strategy considers the entire

 The impact of information technology on
supply chain management:

( 1 ) Conducive to the realization of

resource information sharing among
enterprises and the formation of supply
chains
( 2 ) It is helpful to realize the
integration of different enterprise
information systems
( 3 ) Conducive to the organization,

management mode in the
 ( 1 ) Changed the organizational structure of the
enterprise supply chain
 It makes a large number of business transactions in
the enterprise completely automated, and the top
managers can directly contact the lower-level
departments through long-distance communication and
the Internet, which greatly reduces or even
eliminates the intervention of the middle managers.
 ( 2 ) Changed the business process of the enterprise
 It urges enterprises to reshape the original
organization and business process operation mode,
from the center of organization function to the
center of process.
 ( 3 ) Changed the enterprise marketing model
 It enables enterprises to cooperate with distributors

2.1 Barcode Technology
( 1 ) Barcode technology
 The application of barcode technology solves the
"bottleneck" problem of data entry and data collection, and
provides effective technical support for modern logistics
and supply chain management.

technology
• One-dimensional barcodes carry a limited amount of
information, and two-dimensional barcodes were invented in the
1990s.
• In addition to the advantages of one-dimensional barcodes,
two-dimensional barcodes also have the advantages of large
amount of information, high reliability, confidentiality, and
strong anti-counterfeiting.
• At present, two-dimensional barcodes mainly include PDF417
code, Code49 code, Code 16K code, Data Matrix code, MaxiCode
code, etc.
• Two-dimensional barcode is a new information storage and
transmission technology, which has received extensive
attention from the international community since its birth.
Frequency
Identification
The basic principle of radio frequency technology
Technology

( Radio Frequency Identification , RFID ) is
electromagnetic theory . The advantage is that it does
not limit the line of sight, and the recognition
distance is farther than the optical system. RFID cards
can have read and write capabilities, can carry a large
amount of data, are difficult to forge and have
intelligence.

 The role of radio frequency and tag system: non-contact

identification of stationary or moving tags.

 Principle: Using radio frequency technology,

electromagnetic wave radio frequency scanning is
performed on the tag, data is read, and information is
mastered.

 RFID technology is mainly used in
the following aspects:
( 1 ) Expressway automatic toll
collection and traffic management
( 2 ) Access control security
( 3 ) RFID card charges
( 4 ) Automatic production line
( 5 ) Warehouse management

Expressways can use RFID to

charge without stopping. The pilot
project of using RFID to record the

2.3 Electronic
Data Interchange
Electronic Data Interchange, EDI
It is a set of message communication tools. It uses the
data processing and communication functions of the
computer to convert the commercial documents
exchanged between the two parties into a standard format
and transmit them to the other party through the
communication network, commonly known as "paperless
trade".

benefit:
First: Provide correct and complete information
Second: improve service quality
Third: enhance cooperative relations.
Fourth: improve business efficiency.
EDI conditions:
• Through the use of EDI technology for automatic
processing of freight orders, the standardization of
order data and automatic computer identification and
processing are realized, paper work and repeated labor
are eliminated, the efficiency of document processing
is improved, and the company's transportation of goods
to the sales place is accelerated.

commerce in the supply
chain
• ( 1 ) Meaning

• E-commerce refers to the use of any

information and communication technology to
conduct any form of business or enterprise
management operations or information
exchange. Its goal is to meet the
requirements of enterprises and customers,
reduce costs, and enhance the quality of
goods and services.

2. Intra-enterprise
information system
• The main function of the information system in an
enterprise is to integrate various functional
departments within the enterprise into a whole through
information exchange and information sharing,
effectively allocate enterprise resources, and improve
enterprise operation efficiency. At present, the more
mature application is Enterprise Resource Planning
( Enterprise Resource Planning , ERP ).
The core management
idea of ERP
 It embodies the idea of integrated management of integrated
supply chain resources
 Embody the ideas of lean production and agile manufacturing

 Embody the thought of planning in advance and controlling

things in the process
3. Inter-enterprise
information system
• Inter-enterprise Information System ( IOIS ): It is an
integrated data processing and data communication
system formed between two or more enterprises, and is
a cross-enterprise information system.

• IOIS include:
• ( 1 ) Closed IOIS , which requires enterprises to have
specific access rights to network interfaces;
• ( 2 ) Semi-closed IOIS based on network value-added
service VANS ;
• ( 3 ) A completely open IOIS Internet based on open
media . The IOIS must contain the information needed
by key decision makers in the relevant sectors of the
SCM member companies. Establishing an inter-enterprise
