Jamaica
• Island country
• Around 11,000 km² with a population of around 3 million
• It’s located in the Carabbean sea in North America
• The capital city is Kingston
• They got their political independance on the 5th of August 1962
• A British colony for over 300 years
Jamaica under Great Britain

• It was called The Crown Colony of Jamaica and Dependencies


• English colony from 1655 until 1962
• It was captured by the English Protectorate from the Spanish Empire
• It became a British colony in 1707
• In 1866 it became a Crown colony
• It was primarily colonised for its well known sugarcane production
Jamaican culture
• Jamaican Standard English is the official language
• The largest religion is Christianity
• A special religion that developed in Jamaica around 1930s is called
Rastafari but it is considered to be a part of Christianity
• They have a special kind of music called Reggae
• Jamaican food ia a mixture of Spanish, English, Indian and African recepies
• The most recognized Jamaican food is jerk chicken
Eswatini
• South Africa
• 17,000 km² with a population of around a milion people
• Mbabane and Lobamba
• The native - The Swazis and they settled in Swaziland around 1740s
• They gained their independance from Great Britain in 1968
Eswatinis culture
• The most popular religion - Christianity
• Two main cultural events are the Inclawa
and the Umhlanga
• Inclawa-complex ritual of renewing and
strengthening the kingship
• Umhlanga- they cut reeds for the annual
repair to the windbreaks
Uganda
• East Africa
• 240 000 km²
• Population of around 46 milion
• The capital city is Kampala
• Became a Republic in 1963
• Gained full independance in 1995

• Protectorate of the British Empire 1894 to 1962
• Official language-English
• Over 90% of people are Catholic
• Matoke – special food
• Exports food, mostly fish, corn, coffee and tea
• Lakes, rivers and swamps cover over 20%
of land surface
Sudan
• Third largest country in Africa ​
• Historically interconnected with Egypt​
• Khartoum is the capital, Omdurman is 
the largest city​
• Arabic and English​
• 48 million people​
• Full independnce- 1 of January 1956

• The British displaced the
Christians and the animists to
the south away from the
Muslims
• The country was ruled by Omar
Al-Bashir as a dictatorship until
2019

South Sudan
• The world’s youngest recognised
country (9 of july 2011)
• Juba is the capital and the largest city
• English is the lone official language
• 13 million people
• Half of the population is under 19

Mandari, Murle, Ndogom Lndi…
South Africa
• It is the southernmost country
on the mainland of the Old
World.
• It’s the second-most populous
country located entirely south
of the equator, after Tanzania.
• They gained their
independence on May 31.
1961. after 166 years of being
under british rule.
South African culture
• It may be suggested that there is no single
South African culture because of its ethnic
diversity.
• Food is mostly meat-based and South Africa has
also developed into a big wine maker.
• South Africa is the only country of Africa with a
significant ethnic European population and
influence
• The vast majority of people in South Africa are
Christians
Zimbabwe
•  Zimbabwe is also known by its old name
of Rhodesia.
• Capital is Harare.
• The country is landlocked and its mostly
savanna.
• The economy is currently in a bad situation.
• Unique-unified Zimbabwean English
Malawi
• The capital of Malawi is Lilongwe and the
spoken languages are English and Chichewa
• During colonization by the UK it was called
Nyasaland.
• "The Warm Heart of Africa„
• One of the smallest and poorest countries in
Africa.
• Lake Malawi takes 1/3 of Malawi’s area.
Rwanda
• Population of over 12.6 million and is the most
densely populated mainland African country
• Capital is Kigali
• The largest faith in Rwanda is Christianity and
The country's principal language is
Kinyarwanda. 
• More than one in five children died before their
fifth birthday, often from malaria.
• Genocide against Tusi people – 1.000.000
deaths
Nigeria
• The Federal Republic of Nigeria is country in West Africa 
• It covers the area of 923769 km2
• It is the most populous country in Africa with over 225 million people 
• The capital city is Abuja
• It become the formally independent federation on 1 October 1960

• It was colonized in 1807 by Britian 
• Britain intervened in the Lagos kingship power struggle by
bombarding Lagos in 1851 
• In 1914 Lagos, Southern Nigeria and Northern Nigeria united to form
Nigeria 
• There were many coups after the World War II.

• The official language is English 
• They ensure the freedom of any religion
• Their feasts are colorful and lavish 
• Football is the most popular sport
• Nollywood 
Ghana
• The Republic of Ghana is a country in West Africa 
• It covers the area of 238535 km2
• It has 32 million people 
• The capital city is Accra
• Ghana became independent on 6 March 1957

• There were few civil wars after the 1950
• The first president was Kwame Nkrumah

• They mostly eat healthy food like fruit and vegetables

• „pirate nest”
• Colonised in 1896. by France - independence in 1960.

counties in the world
