This study investigates the problem on why students shift to another course.
Shifting to another course is one of the factors why the population of students of a
particular program decreases. Students shift from one course to another course
because of academic difficulties, the incapability of students to pass their subjects,
difficulty of having companion in school.

According to Tiongson (2016) stated that difficulty of academic subjects is one of

the most common reason why students leave a particular program. BSED
Mathematics is known as one of those difficult courses. Many students failed to
maintain or get the passing grade because they just can’t seem to understand the
lessons on that particular subjects.

In this paper, the researcher discussed the importance of making this study to
gather more information about those students who shift to another course, and what
are the main reasons why they shift to another course. To find possible solutions and
to avoid losing students to the program.
