If the MFD display fails, the PFD / MFD reversionary switch is set to the PFD
position. This PFD switch position applies a ground to the discrete inputs PFD
REVERSION and ENGINE ENABLE. This enables the PFD to show the engine
displays and blanks the MFD display. If the PFD display fails, the DISPLAY
reversion switch is set to the MFD position, and the PFD blanks.

Adaptive Flight Display (AFD)

The 5-V dc lighting bus controls the intensity of the panel pushbutton lighting.
The intensity of the LCD panel is controlled by the PILOT AFD LCD DIMMING
potentiometer. The number 1 Primary Flight Display (PFD) outputs a +28-V dc
LCD BRT reference voltage to the potentiometer. The LCD BRT CNTRL IN voltage
is input to the GREY SCALE/AUTO BRIGHTNESS circuits. The low side of the
potentiometer is biased at +3 V dc to prevent display blanking if the reference
voltage is lost or shorted.

The liquid crystal displays require a source of backlight to illuminate the image
on the display. A fluorescent lamp powered at 115 VAC, located behind the
display, provides the backlighting for the PFD display. Brightness of the lamp
(thus the display) may be controlled by the display control knob on the light
dimming panel in the cockpit.

Adaptive Flight Display (AFD)

The front panel BRT/DIM switch functions with the GREY SCALE/AUTO
BRIGHTNESS circuits to trim the LCD display intensity to match the other PFD
and MFD displays in the cockpit. The AUTO DIM LIGHT SENSOR signal is also
input to the GREY SCALE/AUTO BRIGHTNESS circuit, and automatically adjusts
the LCD lighting to match the cockpit ambient light level. The LINE SELECT
PUSHBUTTONS inputs are monitored by the FRONT CONTROL CPU and output
on the system bus to the microprocessor.

The DCP contains knobs and switches that allow the pilot to select the
barometric pressure correction, V-speed reference setting, navigation source
selection, bearing source selection, weather radar control, and display range
parameters.

The +28-V dc essential avionics bus supplies power to the left DCP. The +28-V dc
power is input to the power supply that generates the required internal supply
levels. The panel lighting power is supplied by the +5-V dc panel lighting bus.
The left DCP ident is provided by strapping the DCP CONFIG 1 discrete to STRAP
GROUND.

The left DCP receives discrete inputs from the Flight Guidance Panel (FGP).

The CCP is a flight deck control panel with dedicated function keys that provides
the user interface for controlling the advanced features formats on the MFD.

The CCP requires input power from a +28-V dc output of the DC-DC 2 CH 1
converter, connected the avionics essential bus.

The CCP transmits ARINC 429 digital data through an ARINC 429 output port.
This port provides data to external units over the L-CCP-1 high-speed digital data
bus (P2-17/25), and is transmitted to the MFD.

Aural Warning System

Various aural tones are generated to alert the pilot of particular situations.
Control inputs are prioritized so if two or more inputs warrant an aural tone,
only the higher priority tone sounds.

All tones except gear warning can be silenced when the situation is removed or
corrected. In cases where it is silenced, the next priority tone sounds if the
situation warrants.

The essential bus powers the aural warning box through the 3-amp AURAL WRN
circuit breaker on the pilot CB panel.

The following tones, discussed in priority, comprise the aural warning system.
Further details can be found in the appropriate chapter.

Each oil dipstick drives the respective ENG OIL indicator on the GTRP.
The dipstick contains a floating ball magnetically activating a reed contact.
When the oil reaches the low level, the ball opens the contact with the switch
and activates the appropriate GTRP oil level red annunciator.

When the gap of the chip detector is bridged on aircraft equipped with the
electronic chip detector, the onside L ENG OIL or R ENG OIL red annunciator on
the GTRP will flash.
The chip detection indication receives inputs directly from the on side chip
detector located in each reduction gearbox.

The HYD LEVEL red annunciator is illuminated by the optical level sensor, which
is located on the hydraulic power package reservoir.
If the reservoir level is below that required for safe operation, the optical sensor
signals the GTRP and illuminates the red HYD LEVEL annunciator.

A red HYD FILTER annunciator is also incorporated on the GTRP to alert the crew
when the hydraulic power package filter has been bypassed.
If the filter by-pass valve has tripped, the annunciator illuminates.
The by-pass valve switch supplies the signal to the GTRP annunciator.

The amber TK INT CON and TK INTCON INT annunciators on the GTRP receive
inputs from the internal switches in the tank interconnect valve located on the
left collector tank.
The annunciations indicate the valve's position regarding in-transit (TK INTCON
INT) or open (TK INT CON) for refueling purposes.
