NBS 1-3
International business consists of all commercial
transactions—including sales, purchase,
investments, and logistics—that take place
between two or more countries.
International Increasingly foreign countries are a source of both
Business production and sales for any company.

Private companies undertake such transactions for


profit; governments may undertake them either
for profit and /or for other purposes.
Introduction to the Course

Objectives:

• Provides deep insights on concepts,


frameworks, theories and practices of
international business.

• Analyze and understand the international


business environment (internal &
external).

• More specifically, it equips students with


practical tools as well as exploration of
practical issues faced by managers in
dynamic international business
environment.
Introduction to the Course
Analysis:
•Examines important strategies, operational and
organizational issues from the perspective of firms and
managers (local firms, SMEs or subsidiaries of MNCs).

•Investigate the firms, managers and entrepreneurs who


are seeking
– expansion in international markets
– divest (stop) their operations in foreign markets.

•Understand opportunities and challenges facing by firms


and managers in international business

•What, How, When and Why they can best address


diverse issues when operating and competing at the
global stage.

The focus of this course will at three


levels

(i) Macro (the international level),


(ii) Messo (the country level) and
(iii) Micro (the company level).

Class Participation
• You are welcome to participate actively in class
discussions and activities.

•Prepared in advance- read the material to have


critical opinions/questions to ask and share.

•Don’t be shy to discuss your ideas and experiences


related to what, how and why to the concepts
discussed in the class as well as in real business settings.

• Class participation will be closely monitored throughout


the semester and will be graded.

• Reflect and analyze the knowledge and information


critically and think/act in a creative manner.
Attendance
• Class attendance will be taken

Group Project

Group Project: Provide a consultancy to any company/ startup (a Pakistani or a


Foreign) for the internationalization of their business (products, processes, operations
etc.).

Group:
– Maximum 2 students
– Only one group can work with a specific brand/company (first come first serve
basis)
– No individual projects are permitted
– Students are responsible for selection and registration of their groups
– Each member of the group must be constructive, contributing and effective
member of the group.
– No room for FREE RIDERS, they should be report right from the start.
– Formation and registration of groups on LMS should be completed by end of
week 3, time 24:00 hours (Midnight)
– Submission of project will be in week 18 time 24:00 hours (12:00 AM)
