Motivation

 A lot of students find it difficult to

understand the algorithms, due to lack of
visualization.

 Visualising makes tasks simpler.

 It helps them imagine what goes behind code,

the step wise computation that occurs.

 Thus, this instills in them the logical way of

functioning, and helps them build the code on
their own with efficiency.

Questionnaire for Students:

1. What are the sorting algorithms you are familiar with ?

2. Do you know to trace these mentioned algorithms , Rate yourself out of 5 ?
3. How effectively these algorithms are taught in class ?
4. How much time did you take to reflect on material taught in class ?
5. How interactive or involved do you feel in class ?

6. Select the area of difficulty while learning these algorithms

 Tracing the algorithm
 Remembering the technique or procedure
 Coding the algorithm

7. What do you do to understand these algorithms ? (self learning techniques )

8. What are the methods do you feel that students and teachers should implement for better
understanding of these algorithms ?

Questionnaire for Teachers/Professors.
1. From how long are u teaching DSA subject ?
2. Please rate the difficulty of these sorting algorithms according to you in students point of
view / understanding ?
3. What are the reasons that student find these topics complicated ?
4. Which teaching mode do you prefer ?
5. What are the tools and technologies you have used to teach these algorithms to make them
simpler?
6. What are the challenges you have faced while teaching these algorithms ?
7. After these different techniques of teaching , What efforts should student put from his side for
improving his understanding ?
8. From the survey results we thought of implementing an sorting visualizer , Any other suggestions
for improving our idea ?

Sample client details and Base/End user

 Our stakeholders belong to two groups :
 Students of different branches across various colleges
 Professors of RVCE

Our end users are mainly IT branch students of 2nd year and few
1st ,3rd and 4th year students .We also got responses from non IT students.
We got around 100 responses from different branch students.
We have interviewed 2 students of IT branches and 1 non IT branch
Student
We spoke to 2 teachers
 Prof .Raghavendra Prasad sir from ISE
 Prof Shwetha ma’am from ISE
