Programme Structure Cont.……
◦ Candidates who earn 60 credits on completion of the core, core elective and
skill elective courses and the dissertation (with a GPA ≥ 2.00), will be eligible
for the award of the MBA in Human Resource Management by The Open
University of Sri Lanka.
◦ All students are required to maintain their active studentship by renewing the
registration annually.

◦ Self learning based on:
◦ E-books and other reference material.

◦ Adoption of a mix of ODL (Open and Distance Learning) methodologies and


interactive learning.
◦ Continuous assessments based on problem-oriented field assignments.

◦ Interactive learning in a classroom environment with emphasis on development


of skills.

Day Schools
◦ Main purpose is to discuss the problems you come across while self-learning

◦ It is important to read materials before attending to the Day-Schools

◦ Refer the Day-School Schedule

◦ Bring the student Record Book

◦ Attendance is not compulsory, but it is very important

* Due to prevailing condition, day schools are conducted via Zoom.

Scheme of Assessment

The assessment of a student in any course shall consist of two components:


◦ Continuous Assessment (CA).

◦ Final Examination (FE).

Scheme of Assessment
◦ Eligible to appear at the Final Examination in respect of any course where a
minimum of 40% for the Continuous Assessment component has been obtained
in respect of that course.
◦ A student who fails to obtain 40% for Continuous Assessment component in a
particular course shall be deemed to have failed that course, and shall be
awarded the grade FA. Such a student may repeat that course by re-registering.

Lapse of Eligibility

Eligibility obtained is valid only for two academic years including the year in
which the eligibility is obtained.

After the lapse of eligibility, you will have to re-register for the course for
which eligibility is lapsed.

The overall assessment mark (Z%) of a student in respect of any course excluding the dissertation
shall be based on the Continuous Assessment mark (X %) and the mark obtained at the Final
Examination (Y %) and shall he computed as follows:

If X ≥40 and Y ≥50, then, Z = 0.3X + 0.7Y

If X ≥40 and 40 ≤ Y<50, then Z = 0.3X + 0.7Y up to a maximum of 50

If X≥40 and Y < 40, then Z =Y

If X < 40, then Z =FA (Repeat)

Overall Grade Grade Point A+, A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+ and C constitute pass
Mark Value grades.
≥ 85 A+ 4.00
80 - 84 A 4.00 A student who is awarded a C-, D+, D, E or FA
grade cannot count that course towards her/his
75 - 79 A- 3.70 credit requirements unless s/he re-sits the Final
70 - 74 B+ 3.30 Examination on a subsequent occasion and
65 - 69 B 3.00 obtains a C grade.
60 - 64 B- 2.70
55 - 59 C+ 2.30 A student who either repeats a course or who
50 - 54 C 2.00 re-sits a Final Examination shall be deemed to
45 - 49 C- 1.70 have obtained a mark, which is not higher than
50% and a grade not higher than C.
35 - 44 D+ 1.30
25 - 34 D 1.00
00 - 24 E 0.00

Final Examination
◦ A Final Examination at the end of each semester (excluding HRPAF91)

◦ Minimum three hours duration

◦ Eligibility should be obtained to sit for the Final Examination

◦ Pass mark in each course is minimum of 50%

◦ The score of the dissertation report (HRPAF91) will be the Final Examination score
