What are the parts of a sentence?
• Subject A subject is the person, place, or thing that the
sentence is about. It can also be a pronoun.

It answers the question WHO or WHAT.

• Predicate The part of the sentence that tells about the


subject. It contains the verb that tells about
the subject.
It answers the question “WHAT”
Put a line to divide the sentence into two parts.
Label S for the subject and P for the predicate.

e.g. My sister cooks our food.
