What is a linear inequality in two variables?

A linear inequality in two variables is a
mathematical sentence that contains 2 variables
and makes use of any of the order relation
symbols, <, >, ≤, and ≥.
Examples: 𝑥+ 𝑦 > 7 4 𝑚+3 𝑛≤12
2 𝑎− 𝑏<10 6𝑝−5≥7𝑞

OF LINEAR title style IN TWO VARIABLES
Steps in Graphing Linear Inequalities in Two Variables:
1. Change the linear inequality in two variables to a linear
equation in two variables.
2. Graph the resulting linear equation in two variables. The
graph serves as the boundary line. It is solid if the symbol
in the linear inequality is ≤ or ≥, while it is broken if the
symbol in the linear inequality is < or >.
3. Choose a test point from any side of the boundary line.
Determine if this point is a solution of the linear
inequality. If it is, shade the region where the point is
located; if not, shade the opposite region. 5
