What is Bhagavad Gita about?

Mahabharat where it contains many teachings
relevant for human being and the different forms of
crisis that we find in our own times.
Bhagavad Gita
Chapter 2-verse 14
– मात्रास्पर्शास्तु कौन्तेय शीतोष्णसुखदु: खदा: |
आगमापायिनोऽनित्यास्तांस्तितिक्षस्व भारत ||
– O son of Kunti, the contact between the senses
and the sense objects gives rise to fleeting perceptions of
happiness and distress. These are non-permanent and come and
go like the winter and summer seasons. O descendant of Bharat,
one must learn to tolerate them without being disturbed
Meaning:

• “Nothing is permanent in this world”

• Just, like seasons comes and goes it’s the same with the pain, pleasure and
other materialistic things,
• Learn to tolerate now cause it wont last long, the bad phases will go away in a
certain period of time,
• The only permanent thing in this world is change,
• Have patience, it will pass.
Chapter 6 verse 35

– असंशयं महाबाहो मनो दुर्निग्रहं चलम् ।

अभ्यासेन तु कौन्तेय वैराग्येण च गृह्यते ॥
– O mighty-armed son of Kunti, it
is undoubtedly tough to curb the restless mind, but
it is possible by constant practice and by
detachment
Meaning

– Mind is hard to restrain

– But it can be controlled through constant discipline and dispassion
– Any transition requires us to learn things in new way and to drop the old ways
–  Abhyaasa or discipline is what we have to learn and practice.
– Materialistic and desire-oriented thinking is what we have to give up or unlearn
through the practice of constant dispassion.
Chapter 11, verse 32

I am time, the seasoned annihilator of

the worlds, engaged in destroying all these people. Even
without your (effort), all those hostile warriors will not exist
in the future.
Meaning
– Our mind works within the gamut of space and time, therefore it is difficult to
comprehend what Arjuna saw

– Krishna says that it is he who is running the show

– He probably saw the past, the present and the future happening in an instant,
all at the same time
