Sentence Structure (Verb Tenses)

MAJOR CONFUSIONS:
 Double Past Tense (Did + Past Verb)
When using “did”, the verb should be in its base form.

 Infinitive To + Past Verb


When using “to”, the verb should also be in its base form.

Prepositions
 Prepositions vary depending on what you mean, but words normally have their
“perfect pair”.

Question Making

 When used with other verbs, helping verbs such as can, could, will, would, do/did/does,
etc. always come with base verbs, while am/is/are/was/were always come with ~ing
verbs.

 Has/have come with Past Participles (~en verbs).

Adverbs – already, also, only

 These adverbs are usually placed before the verb - not at the end of the sentence.

INCORRECT CORRECT
I ate already. I already ate.
I have a few a cents only. I only have a few cents.
Organization - Transition Adverbs
– first, next, then

 It’s more appropriate to use First than Firstly when giving steps or instructions.

 Organizing the steps in number or bullet form is more advisable.
When giving instructions:

 Be brief and concise. Not too short, but not too wordy.
 Keep the instructions organized by putting them in bullet or number form. If you prefer to
give instructions in paragraph form, use transition adverbs.
IMPORTANT

 Note that the account is non-voice, which means you will be handling customers via chat
and email, so take the written exam seriously.
 The questions in the written exam are more on giving instructions and troubleshooting
issues. Your organization, probing and customer service skills will be mainly checked.
 Aside from the written exam, you will also be taking an aptitude test and a typing test. We
