EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
• Emotional intelligence is the ability to understand,
use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways
to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize
with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict.
• Emotional intelligence helps you build stronger
relationships, succeed at school and work, and achieve
your career and personal goals.
• It can also help you to connect with your feelings,
turn intention into action, and make informed
decisions about what matters most to you.

SELF AWARENESS
•Self-awareness involves being aware of
different aspects of the self including traits,
behaviors, and feelings.
•Being self-aware also means having a clear
picture of your strengths and weaknesses and
it means behaving with humility.
•Recognizing internal feelings without saying
anything.
SELF REGULATION
•Self Regulation is all about staying
in control of yourself.
•Individuals who regulate themselves
effectively rarely verbally attack
others, make rushed or emotional
decisions, stereotype people, or
compromise their values.
MOTIVATION
•It is the process of stimulating people to
actions to accomplish the goals.
•Self-motivated individuals work
consistently towards their goals, and
they have extremely high standards for
the quality of their work.
•Using Self Control to Channelize
emotions towards a Goal
EMPATHY
•Empathy is the ability to emotionally
understand what other people feel, see
things from their point of view, and
imagine yourself in their place.
•It is putting yourself in someone else's
position and feeling what they must be
feeling.

SOCIAL SKILLS
•Social skills are the tools that enable people to
communicate, learn, ask for help, get needs.
•In appropriate ways, get along with others, make
friends, develop healthy relationships, protect
themselves, and in general, be able to interact with
the society harmoniously.
•These skills help to handle Social Relationship
and to develop Interpersonal skills.
IMPORTANCE OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
• Your performance at school or work:- High emotional intelligence can help
you navigate the social complexities of the workplace, lead and motivate others,
and excel in your career.
• Your physical health:- If you’re unable to manage your emotions, you are
probably not managing your stress either. This can lead to serious health
problems like Heart attacks and strokes.
• Your mental health:- Uncontrolled emotions and stress can also impact your
mental health, making you vulnerable to anxiety and depression.
• Your relationships:- By understanding your emotions and how to control them,
you’re better able to express how you feel and understand how others are
feeling.
• Your social intelligence:- Being in tune with your emotions serves a social
purpose, connecting you to other people and the world around you.
HOW TO DEVELOP HIGHER SENSE OF
EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
•Become Emotionally literate; Label your Feelings, rather than
labelling people or situation. Say “I feel” instead of “I know”.
•Distinguish between thoughts and feelings.
•Take more responsibility for your feelings.
•Use your feelings to help make decisions.
•Use feelings to set and achieve goals.
•Feel Energized, Not Angry.
•Validate other people’ feelings.
•Use feelings to show respect for others.
•Don’t advise, command, control, criticize, judge, or judge to
others.
•Avoid people who invalidate you.

• Conduct a “Personal Inventory”.
• Analyse the setting and identify skills needed.
• Enlist trusted friends.
• Focus on a few Competencies.
• Practice, Practice, Practice.
• Be Observant and reflective.
• Don’t expect Immediate results.
• Learn from your Mistakes.
