What is Badgework?
Badgework :
is process where in a girl earns a badge for
acquiring knowledge, attitudes, habits and skills by
carrying our certain activities in the Girl Scout
program. All these contribute to the development of
her character and her total personality and prepare
her for her responsibilities in the home, the nation
and the world community which is the mission and
vision of Gil Scouting. Bagework provides numerous
opportunities for making choices and decision
making, working and relating with others, developing
her sense of responsibility and putting to practice the
Girl Scout Promise and Law in real life situations.
Badges:
A badge is a symbol of accomplishment presented
to a girl who has demonstrated her knowledge,
attitudes and skills acquired through the activities she
carried out. It could be a metal badge like the
membership pins awarded during the Investiture
Ceremony when a girl has completed the membership
requirements. Other badges are made of cloth with
embroidered or printed designs depicting the
knowledge of skill acquired through the 8 Point
Challenge and other special programs of GSP as well
asWAGGGS and ASIA PACIFIC programs and project
Badges:
The badge is not an award. It is a
symbol that stands for what the girl is and
is capable of doing. The badge, however,
is the means not the end in the
badgework process. It serves as an
incentive which motivates encourage
every girl to participate in the activities.
The badge speaks for the girl’s readiness
to render a particular kind of service she
has prepared herself to give.
