The regional center is Koronadal City located
in the province of South Cotabato. Cotabato City, though geographically within the boundaries of the province of Maguindanao, itself is part of SOCCSKSARGEN, and is independent of that province. Maguindanao province is, in fact, a part of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) which has its seat in Cotabato City. Located at the foot of Mount Apo, it is a popular destination from late October to December and in the summer, when thousands of tourists climb the country’s highest mountain. Koronadal City is the capital of the province of
South Cotabato. The city is recognized as the “Most Competitive City” and most business- friendly place in Mindanao. The word Koronadal is believed to have been derived from two B’laan words – Koron or kolon which means Cogon Grass and nadal or datal which means plain. On the other hand, Marbel, which is another name for the Poblacion, is a B’laan term “Marb-El” which means “murky waters,” referring to the Marbel River. TACURONG CITY
