CONDUIT PIPE
EMT Conduit Pipe

•Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), also commonly called thin-wall, is a listed steel
raceway of circular cross section which is unthreaded, and nominally 10 feet long,
twenty foot lengths are also available.
•Can be use for both exposed & concealed works provided it will not be subject to
severe physical damage and is properly protected against corrosion.
•It is most commonly used above ground for lighting, and other low power
applications.
Non-Metallic Conduit (PVC Pipe)

•PVC can be used indoor or outdoors and underground beneath

Concrete or fill.
•Easy to bend.
•Best for burying underground as it will not corrode with water.
Intermediate Metal Conduit (IMC)

IMC can be used indoor or outdoors and underground beneath

Concrete or fill. It can be used in high voltage application (over 600VAC)
Rigid Steel Conduit (RSC Pipe)

• Also known as Heavy-walled conduit

•. Comes in the same sizes as EMT but has thicker walls.
• Has threaded ends for connections.
• Use for carrying wire indoors or outdoors, in dry and wet locations,
.
exposed or concealed, in all kinds of atmospheric conditions, and in
hazardous locations..

Flexible Metal Conduit (FMC or Greenfield)

Rounded channel-iron shape provides strength and make fitting easy

over the roller-bearing surfaces. Spring action of the cold-rolled steel
holds a circular cross section under any bend, Light weight, easy
installations
Donut Strapping

Donut Duct Spacers

One style does it all
Save up to 40% on labor
Up to one third less spacers required on many jobs -- don't over-order
Do more work outside the ditch instead of down inside
Just slide them on and you have proper duct spacing in every direction -- and from
sides and bottom of trench
Cannot fall or tip over
Place them anywhere along the run -- they don't have to be stacked -- this eliminates
danger of shear plane in meeting seismic specifications
Easy flow of concrete thru spacers in the pour
Fits all types of conduit. Sizes for conduits 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 inches
Snap out feature allows conversion from 3" separation to 1 1/2" separation.

BOXES

Boxes Safety Tips

•Always turn off power at the circuit breaker box or fuse box before changing a
receptacle or switch. You can double check that the circuit is dead by using a
tester.
• Never attempt repairs near the service head. Call a professional.
•Don’t drill into walls or ceilings blindly without shutting off power. Use a
detector to determine if there are wires behind the walls.
Junction Box

Shallow Type Deep Type

•Also known as a ceiling box or splice box.

• Used to anchor ceiling fixtures and serves as a junction box where wires
can meet and run to other areas of the room.

Braided expandable sleeving provides a unique lightweight harnessing

solution. Make from P.E.T. (Polyethylene Terephthalate) expandable
sleeving will provide continuous abrasion protection while the flexible
open weave will not trap heat or moisture. The flexibility and braid
design also allows it to be installed over irregular shapes
Continuous abrasion resistance for wires, cables and tubing
Grommet Edging

Grommet Edging is used primarily to line panel edges and knockouts where
chaffing of passing wires is a concern. Made from natural nylon, it is ideal for
the protection of glass, sheet, metal, panel board or other sheet materials
from .030" to .250". In most applications grommet edging will grip tightly by
itself, if not, a small application of epoxy will secure it.

Wiring management protection and organization becomes simplified with the use of slotted wall
wiring duct. The restricted slot design allows wires to be added or removed by simply deflecting
the fingers on the side of the duct. The restricted slot then retains the wire preventing their
accidental removal. Wiring duct is unique in that wires can be easily added and removed at any
time. The cover is flush with the base for mounting in tight areas. Constructed from rigid PVC
Corrugated Plastic Conduit (CPC)

Split Conduit is an excellent general-purpose cable and harness protector.

Convoluted tubing provides an efficient method for binding wire harness assemblies,
supplying protection against abrasion, crushing and impact while reducing
installation damage. It is economical and quick to install
Spiral Wrap

Spiral wrap provides abrasion protection for wire and cable insulation as well
as hydraulic and pneumatic tubing. Excellent for harnessing multiple cables
into a single manageable bundle.

Over current Protection
Circuit Breakers

A circuit breaker is an automatically-operated electrical switch designed to protect an

electrical circuit from damage caused by overload or short circuit. Unlike a fuse, which
operates once and then has to be replaced, a circuit breaker can be reset (either manually or
automatically) to resume normal operation. Circuit breakers are made in varying sizes, from
small devices that protect an individual household appliance up to large switchgear designed
to protect high voltage circuits feeding an entire city .
Residual Current Circuit Breaker (RCCB)

Installation of RCCBs is mandatory in damp locations like kitchen, bath rooms

and laundry rooms The required tripping time for RCCBs is 0.0025 second
Molded Case (ACB)

Contains a bi-metal strip that breaks the circuit when a current exceeds a predetermined rating.
A breaker indicates a broken circuit when the switch is in the mid-point, or tripped, position.
Reset the circuit breaker after correcting the overload problem. Switch it to the off position, then to
the on position.
Mini Circuit Breakers (DIN Rail Mounted)

This series of circuit breakers are used in lighting distribution systems or motor distribution
systems for protection from overload and short - circuits in the system. It has a high breaking
capacity, can trip quickly, and is highly resistant to fire and shock. The product is neoteric in
structure, light in weight, reliable and has excellent performance. Mainly used in AC 50 / 60HZ
single - pole 240V or two, three four - pole 415V circuits for overload and short - circuit protection
as well as for the unfrequented on– and - off switching of electric equipment and lighting circuits.
Compliant with IEC 60898 and BS 377.
Surge Protector Circuit Breaker

It is used to limit the transient over - voltage amplitude and to absorb, dissipate and
discharge the surge current energy. It is also applicable to form a packaged electric
appliance with a modular terminal electric device, raising the erection class and
expanding the application range of the electric appliance. If used for the terminal
devices, it can further reduce the over - voltage, including over - voltage caused by
lightning stroke or overload operation, to protect the computer and microcomputer and
household appliance, such as television and hi - fi audio unit, from over - voltage.

h) 20A 125V / AC feed through, duplex receptacle
FUSES

Always use a fuse puller when changing a cartridge fuse.

Before changing or adding a circuit breaker, switch off the main breaker that lets power
into the rest of the box.
Never put fingers into or touch the empty spaces in a circuit breaker box.
Never remove the knockout covering an empty space in a breaker box until you’re
ready to use it.
Fuses

Blade Type Plug Type

A safety device that breaks an electrical circuit when it is overloaded.

The most commonly used fuse. Available in 5- to 30-amp sizes. It has a threaded
base like a light bulb and a small window to view a metal linkage. Electricity flows
through the linkage. When the circuit is overloaded, the linkage melts and turns
black, cutting off the flow of electricity through it. The fuse then must be replaced
Cartridge Type Fuse

Cartridges fuses for circuits above 60 amps are also known as knife-blade cartridges. They look like
rifle cartridges with metal caps and blades sticking out of each end.
Cartridges fuses for circuits 60 amps or less are also known as ferrule contact or round cartridge
fuses. They look like rifle cartridges with plain, capped ends.
Used in high-current applications, such as in the main service box and in clamp- or bar-type fuse
boxes that serve electric ranges, water heaters, clothes dryers and air conditioners.
Unlike plug fuses, you cannot tell if the fuse is blown by merely looking at it.
Use a special pair of pliers known as fuse pullers to remove these fuses .
