THE CARBON

CYCLE
•The carbon cycle plays a key role
in regulating Earth's global
temperature and climate by
controlling the amount of carbon
dioxide in the atmosphere. The
greenhouse effect itself is a
naturally occurring phenomenon
that makes Earth warm enough for
life to exist.
What is the
Greenhouse Effect

• The greenhouse effect is the way in

which heat is trapped close to
Earth's surface by “greenhouse
gases.” These heat-trapping gases
can be thought of as a blanket
wrapped around Earth, keeping the
planet toastier than it would be
without them.
solutions

• Greenhouse gas emissions can be reduced

by making power on-site with renewables
and other climate-friendly energy resources.
Examples include rooftop solar panels, solar
water heating, small-scale wind generation, fuel
cells powered by natural gas or renewable
hydrogen, and geothermal energy.
