ABSTRACT
The purpose of the project entitled as “ENHACED STAFF HOSPITAL MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM” is to computerize the Front Office Management of Hospital to develop software
which is user friendly simple, fast, and cost – effective. It deals with the collection of
patient’s information, diagnosis details, etc. Traditionally, it was done manually. The main
function of the system is register and store Staff details and doctor details and retrieve
these details as and when required, and also to manipulate these details meaningfully
System input contains Staff details, diagnosis details, while system output is to get these
details on to the screen. The Enhaced Staff Hospital Management System can be entered
using a username and password. It is accessible either by an administrator or
receptionist. Only they can add data into the database.
INTRODUCTION
Hospitals are key institutions and there is need for efficient service delivery in the hospital
as good health is paramount to a happy society. As a result of this there is need for a
system that will enable hospital management in making effective and efficient decision
(Oparah, 2017). Recently, efforts are continuously being made in designing and
constructing a user friendly and reliable database system to satisfy hospital or medical
management system (Abdullahi, 2018; James and Cimino, 2017).

On the other hand, many hospitals and medical centers are still adopting the manual
system of hospital management. These methods of medical management system have
continued to pose a lot of setbacks and problems to medical practitioners, nurses, Staff
and other staff in both government and private hospitals.
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM

 Lack of immediate retrievals: – The information is very difficult to retrieve and to find
particular information like- E.g. – To find out about the patient’s history, the user has to
go through various registers.
 Lack of immediate information storage: –The information generated by various
transactions takes time and efforts to be stored at right place.
 Lack of prompt updating: –Various changes to information like Staff details or
immunization details of child are difficult to make as paper work is involved.
 Preparation of accurate and prompt reports: –This becomes a difficult task as
information is difficult to collect from various register.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective of this project is to investigate and design a online enhanced staff
Enhaced Staff Hospital Management System, capable of eradicating the above mentioned
problems to be speeding up the processing, storing and retrieval of information which
greatly assist medical personnel in the performance of their duties. Again, it will provide a
means to ease medical laboratory statistics and improve decision making by reducing
processing time, as well as reducing the communication gap between the Doctors and
other staff still involved in the Staff medical care. It will also reduce human errors to the
barest minimum and improve confidentiality of files. In summary, the objective is to set an
efficient medical database for the advancement of the medical research and analysis.
TOOLS AND TECHNIQUES USED
These are the resources and techniques that were adopted over the course of
the project’s development life cycle. In this system, the user requirement is PC
with standard configuration and another computing device. The tools needed in
the development and use of this system are divided in, Hardware and software
tools.

Hypertext Markup Language(HTML)

Cascading Style Sheets( CSS)

MySQL
EXPLAIN FRON END AND BACKEND
FRONT END:
• It is a standard markup language for web page creation. It allows the creation and structure of
sections, paragraphs, and links using HTML elements (the building blocks of a web page) such
as tags and attributes.
• HTML has a lot of use cases, namely:
• Web development. Developers use HTML code to design how a browser displays web page
elements, such as text, hyperlinks, and media files.

BACK END:

The backend refer to MySQL MySQL is an Oracle-backed open source relational database

management system (RDBMS) based on Structured Query Language (SQL). MySQL runs on
virtually all platforms, including Linux, UNIX and Windows.

CONCLUSION
This study embarked on the Enhaced Staff Hospital Management System which
substitutes the current (manual system) of sorting, handling, searching, amending
and keeping of patient medical records. This portrays the importance and
indispensable nature of the computer and its application in the hospital. The database
aimed at reducing paper work in the reception area to reduce the time wasted by
patients in the course of waiting for their files to be retrieved. This also reduced the
spaced occupied by the files and provide adequate security for patients medical record.
Based on the finding of this study, the design of Enhaced Staff Hospital Management
System will be a solution to the problem being experienced by the current manual
method of keeping patient medical records.
