Creating a new presentation
There are two ways a presentation can be created by the user:

• From scratch- User can create their own design, add graphics, visualizations,
etc.

• From a template: The templates are pre-loaded and designed, helps the user in
designing presentations easily.

Saving presentation is important otherwise the user will lose all the information.

Overview of the Screen and Views
Microsoft PowerPoint presentations can be viewed in different ways. Some views are
helpful when the user is creating the presentation, and some can be helpful while
delivering it. Different views are:

• Normal View
• Slide Sorter View
• Notes Page View
• Outline View
• Master View
• Slide Show View
• Presenter View
• Reading View

Formatting Text
Text can be formatted to make the content look presentable.

Format Options include:

• Font Colour

• Numbering or Bullets

• Add or Remove Columns

• Text Directions

• Align Text

• Justify / Align right, left, center

• Increase/Decrease list level

Bullets and Numbered Lists

• Users can use bullets and numbered list to help in arranging the content in a
sequence. 

• Users can also customize, the style, colour, and size of the bullets.

Inserting Shapes
• User can add different types of shapes such as star, circle, square, to their
presentation.

• Colour, size, outline can be changed of all the shapes.

• User can also add texts in the inserted shapes

Inserting Graphics
• Users can add different types of graphics to enhance the slides.

• User can add a single or multiple images in their slides.

• Graphics can be clip art, images, pictures, photos, etc.

Inserting Icons
• Users can insert icons files in slideshow

• Users can change colour, rotate, and resize icons. 

• When formatted , there will be no change in the image quality of the icons.

Inserting 3D Models
• Users can add 3D models in their slides. 

• Users can rotate 3D models and even tilt them up and down to show specific
feature of the model.

Inserting Zoom

Users can create a summary of a slide or insert an image of a slide in another


slide with the help of Zoom.

Zoom

Users can magnify the slides with the help of Zoom. The icon of zoom is of a
magnifying glass.

Picture Options
• Users can upload pictures or select pictures from stock images.

• For uploading pictures, user can use:

1. Their device with saved pictures

2. One Drive where the picture is uploaded

3. Microsoft Bing pictures

Selecting Objects
• Users can select one object or multiple objects on their slide.

• Select option can be located in the Editing group at the Home ribbon menu.

Editing Objects
• Users can edit all the inserted objects. 

• Multiple objects can be selected and edited at the same time.

• Editing the objects includes rotating, changing the size, copy, and deleting it as
well.

Formatting Objects
• Users can format all the objects inserted in the slide.

• For the shapes, users can format the shape and change the color as well.

Arranging Objects
• Users can arrange the objects in the slide as per the requirement.

• Also, the objects can be aligned to give the objects a presentable look.

Saving Presentations as Templates
User can create presentations and save it as a template, to be re-used.  To create
the template, the user needs to modify the slide master and a set of slide
layouts.

To save the presentation as PowerPoint template – user needs to save the file
using (.potx).
