- is the process of change
that occurs in human beings
throughout development.

Adolescence is a time
for growth spurts and
puberty changes.
PUBERTY
-It marks the beginning of
adolescence and is the
period of time when males
and females become
physically able to
reproduce.
PUBERTY
- During this stage, secondary
sex characteristics begin to
develop such as growing of
body hair, development of
the breasts in females and
muscles in males.
PUBERTY
-It is a result of the release of hormones.

HORMONES
- are chemical substances that are
released into the bloodstream and
travel to the organs and tissues, where
they stimulate growth.
TESTOSTERONE – male hormone

ESTROGEN – female hormones

PROGESTERONE – are responsible


for the physical and emotional
changes that take place during
puberty.
ASPECTS CHANGES
PHYSICAL Feet and hands grow first and
are often large in proportion
than the rest of the body
MENTAL Capacity to think and reason
increases.
Ability to predict the
outcomes of many situations
is honed.
Ability to think logically or
reason things out increases.
Ability to solve more
complicated problems
develops.
ASPECTS CHANGES
EMOTIONAL Spurts of energy and
emotional feelings are
evident.
Friendship and family love
and support are considered
important.
Communicating of thoughts
and feelings becomes a
priority.
SOCIAL Friendship and peer
acceptance are valued.
Ability to feel more deeply
and consider others’ needs
increases.

TRAIT
– is something about you that shows what you
are like. The way you look, think, act and feel
are all traits.
-How you take care of yourself and staying
healthy is also a trait.
-Traitscan be physical, mental, social and
emotional.
DIFFERENT
TRAITS
*PHYSICAL TRAITS
- It tells things about your body.
- You can easily identify your physical traits
when you look into a mirror – the color of
your hair and eyes, how tall you are and
others.
- The way you look reveals things more than
just your body. The way you dress and
maintain neatness are parts of the way you
look.
*MENTAL TRAITS
-The way you think and learn make up
your mental traits.
-You may learn some kinds of skills more
easily than others. Some people are
able to learn new skills just by watching
others.
-Others learn by saying the steps out
loud before they try something new.
*SOCIAL TRAITS
-The way you act is one of your traits.
-The way you act also depends partly
on what is happening to you at that
time.
-Being helpful, courteous and friendly
makes people enjoy being with you.
-Social traits like helping others make
you feel good about yourself.
*EMOTIONAL TRAITS
-Feelings or emotions are felt by
people at different times.
-Making new friends may make
you feel excited and happy.
-Your emotions or feelings are
reflected on how you react at or
do things at a particular time.
*PERSONALITY
*Is the combination of the ways you think,
act and feel.
*Your personality makes you the special
person you are. No one has a personality
that is just like yours.
*Your personality depends partly on traits
with which you were born.
*It also depends on things that have
happened to you. Your personality depends
on the choices you make to help yourself
reach wellness.
