Robot arm construction
AIM:-Study On Robot and Software in robotic lab.
Apparatus Required:-
Robotic arm with controller, computer with Scorbase software.
THEORY:-
ROBOT- A robot is a programmable machine that can complete a task. It is a
reprogrammable multifunctional manipulator designed to move materials,
parts, tools or specialized devices through variable programmed motion for
performance of a variety of tasks.
Robotic system components:-
1)End effectors:-A robotic end effectors is the device that is mounted onto
the end of a robot arm. It is used for picks and places objects, assembles
product pieces, stacks cartons and parcels etc.
2)Manipulator(Arm):-Manipulators are composed of an assembly of links and
joints. It act like a mechanical arm that moves the end effectors to required
position and orientation. It should be strong and accurate The device
attached to the manipulator which interacts with its environment to perform
tasks is end-effectors.
3)Controller:-Provides arm interference checking and coordinated motion
between manipulators. Improved safety for robots in close proximity to
each other. Coordinates robot position in relation to station holding the
work piece.
4)SENSORS:- Robot Sensor is used to measure the condition of the robot
and its surrounding environment. Sensors pass electronic signals to robots
for executing desired tasks and control to perform the required action.
5)Scorbase robotic software:-It is a software package which provides a user
friendly tool for robot programming and operation.
Specifications of Scorbot-ER4V Robot Arm
Axis Movement
Axis 1: Base rotation 310°
Axis 2: Shoulder rotation +130° / –35°
Axis 3: Elbow rotation Axis 4: ±130°
Wrist pitch
±130°
Axis 5: Wrist roll
Unlimited (mechanically); ±570° (electrically)
4/R Wrist Pitch Raises and lowers the end effector (gripper)
THEORY
1) MOTOR:-The robot’s five axes and gripper are operated by DC servo motors shown in Figure.
The direction of motor revolution is determined by the polarity of the operating
voltage: positive DC voltage turns the motor in one direction while negative DC voltage
turns it in the opposite direction.
Each motor is fitted with an encoder for closed-loop control.
The motors are from Pittman MFG, operate at 12V DC, nominal and draw up to 3A
standard and 7A peak.
FEEDBACK DEVICE
Precaution:-
1)Do not use physical force to move or stop any part.
2)Wear proper PPE Kit.
3)Do not touch moving parts.
Learning & Objective:-
This course unit make us inform about motor and feedback system of
robotic unit. Objective are follows
1)Understand function and working of motor.
1)Understand function and working of feedback device
3)Function and limitation of motor and sensor.
