To conjugate a verb in present continuous, use the auxiliary verb “be”
and the main verb in gerund, that is, adding the ending -ing to the
infinitive.
Examples:
• Peter is reading a book now.
• We are going to Basel on Saturday.
• I am working in Rome this month.
• My friend is preparing for his exams.
• More and more people are using their computers to listen to music.
• Andrew is always coming late.

Rules
1. If the verb ends in -e, it is necessary to eliminate this vowel and add
–ing at the final.
Ex. come – coming
2. In words with a short pronunciation vowel before a final consonant, the final
consonant is doubledand add –ing at the final. (This is not so with the final
consonants -w, -y, or –x).
Ex. sit – sitting
(but: mix – mixing)
3. Verbs that end in –ie, change the –ie to “y” and addi –ing at the final.
Ex. lie – lying

Create a sentence in present progressive to each picture, in their 3
forms (affirmative, negative, interrogative).
