Lawrence Kohlberg
LAWRENCE KOHLBERG
He is an American Psychologists. His work is modified and
expanded upon Jean Piaget’s work but his work is more
centered on explaining how children develop moral reasoning
and he propose that moral development is a continual process
that occurs throughout the lifespan.

It is a theory that focuses on how
children develop morality and moral
reasoning.

• Acceptance of authority and conforming to the norms

• Rare with adolescents and few adults

• People develop an understanding of abstract principles

In addition, Kohlberg’s theory
played an important role in the
development of moral
psychology.
Kohlberg believed that individuals
cannot go to the next higher stage if
they didn’t passed the lower stage of
moral reasoning.
