SOLUTION AND

SUSPENSION
SOLUTION
 A Solution is a uniform or homogeneous mixture of two or more
chemicals in which the molecules are evenly dispersed or
scattered.
 Chemicals which dissolve are called Solutes such as salt and
sugar and are said to be Soluble.

 Salt Sugar
 The liquid solute dissolve in, in this case water , is called the
Solvent. Ethanol is also solvent.
DILUTE AND CONCENTRATED
SOLUTION

A solution that contains little amount of solute is called

Weak or Dilute solution.
A solution that contains large amount of solute is
called Strong or Concentrated solution.
SATURATED SOLUTIOON
 If we go on adding more and more salt to water , we will
eventually reach a stage where we cannot make any more of the
salt dissolve. The solution has become Saturated.

 A Saturated solution is one that will not dissolve any more solute
at that temperature.
SUPER SATURATED SOLUTON
 A solution that contains a greater proportion of the solute than
can normally be dissolved in the solvent is said to be Super
saturated.

 A supersaturated solution is one that has more solute in solution

than would normally dissolve at the temperature.

Dead sea contains lot of salt, it’s an example of super saturated

solution.
ALLOY
 An Alloy is a solid solution of two or more metals . The metals are
melted and then poured together in the right proportions and
allowed to be cooled.

 Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc.

 Bronze is an alloy of copper and tin. Brass Bronze

 Solder is an alloy of lead and tin.
