Introduction
Marc and Carly have been in a relationship for 6 years now. At this point many people would describe them as a
fairytale couple and that they were meant for each other. However, every relationship has its problems. The
other day, Marc went to a bonfire with his friend Matt but did not invite Carly. This made Carly mad, and they
got into a fight and are now debating whether they should stay in a relationship. I believe that despite the signs
that Marc is cheating, they should stay as a couple because Marc did not try to do anything wrong with the
bonfire and he clearly is trying very hard to impress Carly.
Argument 1 – Marc did not mean anything bad
with the bonfire
The reason that this argument started was because of a bonfire that Marc went to but did not invite Carly. Marc
did not mean anything bad by this, and has said that Carly does not like Matt. The main reason that Marc did not
invite Carly is because her and his friend Matt had some beef. Marc was just looking out for Carly and thought
that she would not have a good time at the bonfire with Matt around. Another misconception was that Marc and
Anna were hitting it off, even though it is proven that they are just friends. In Source B, “I heard he tried to
make a move on her a year ago, but she shot it down real quick”. This proves that the two of them do not have
any romantic feelings, and that nothing happened at the bonfire between them. The bonfire was a
misunderstanding, and Marc had good intentions for Carly in mind.
Argument 2 – Marc is trying very hard to impress
Carly
Another reason for the two of them to keep dating is because Marc is trying his very hardest to impress Carly.
Marc had planned a surprise date on Sunday that Carly did not know about (Source A). This shows that Marc is
trying to surprise Carly with fun things and make her feel appreciated, which is a good thing to do in a
relationship. Marc is also taking Carly to the Melting Pot for their date (Source H), which is expensive and
requires a reservation. This means that Marc was planning to do this for some time and is committed enough to
making Carly happy that he would spend lots of money to take her to a nice restaurant. Marc is a good
boyfriend who wants to make Carly happy.
Counterclaim – It looks like Marc cheated
The counterclaim to this argument is stating that Marc was cheating on Carly with Anna, especially at the
bonfire. Despite being in an Instagram post that shows the two being affectionate (Source G), Marc views her as
a friend. When she says in the description that she loves him, all he replies with is that it was a good picture and
that it was a fun time. Plus, it is obvious Marc loves Carly, as seen in Source E, when Marc gives some playful
banter before showing that he loves her even if he is being dissed. Despite being thrown shade at, he still says
that he loves her no matter what.
Conclusion
Marc and Carly are a good couple, with Marc trying very hard to impress Carly and having the best intentions
for Carly with the bonfire, despite the false rumors that Marc is cheating on Carly. Marc and Carly had what
feels like a fairytale relationship. These two clearly love each other and are doing things to prove that in their
relationship, with Marc planning surprise dates and Carly supporting him. Seeing these two as a couple feels
great because they feel like they are made for each other. I hope that in the future they can keep this relationship
up and keep having a good time.
