Earth's
climate

Greenhouse gases

• Definition: Gases in the air on earth that

trap heat. When fossil fuels are burned they
release plenty amounts of Carbon
dioxide (greenhouse gases)into the
atmosphere.
• Causes of greenhouse gases: When the
Carbon dioxide in the air is out of control,
it will affect the earth’s climate leading to
the greenhouse gases
Climate change

• Definition: A change in climate is long term

temperature, wind and rainfall on the earth
due to humans burning fossil fuels, oil, gas,...
• Impact of climate change on earth: The
Earth’s climate has changed a lot compared to
the past. Our oceans are warming becoming
more acidic, sea levels are rising, ice caps are
melting and more extreme weather events.
Climate change

• How climate change impact on the Earth’s

weather and geography: The earth’s
atmosphere heats up making big changes
of the weather, therefore natural disasters
increased: Tornados, huge storms,
hurricanes, wild fires etc. Due to climate
change, wet areas are wetter and dry areas
are drier causing places where crops
grow could become desserts.
Ice age/ Glacial period and
Interglacial period
• Ice age is a period in the earth's history
began approximately 70,000 years ago,
it was the time when most of the Earth
surface was buried under thick sheet of
ice
• A warm period between glacial age is
called an interglacial period
Asteroid, Meteors and
Meteorites
• Asteroid are some small rock that
orbit the Sun. Although they are
orbit the Sun like other planet,
but they are much smaller than
planet.
• A meteor is also a small rock or
metal. When it enter the earth's
atmosphere, it's going to burn
very brightly or even explode
• Meteorites are called "space
rocks", which are found on earth
after they fall from the sky.
What would happen if an
asteroid collided with Earth?
• If an asteroid hits the Earth, it will create
large amounts of dust and smoke floating
around the atmosphere preventing sunlight
reaching our earth causing big temperature
drops. This leads to deaths of many living
things.
• If an asteroid the size of a normal house
hits Earth, this could destroy a small city.
