Verbal abuse can impact every element of life, including academic performance,
relationships, and success at work later in life. Just like any other form of abuse or
bullying, verbal abuse has both short- and long-term consequences, including the
following mental health problems:
- Anxiety
- Changes in mood
- Chronic stress
- Decreased self-esteem
- Depression
- Feeling of shame, guilt, worthless and
hopelessness
- Social withdrawal and isolation

with severe mental health issues.
