This document discusses basic electronic components and their functions. It describes terminals and connectors, resistors, switches, capacitors, semiconductors, diodes, and transistors. It explains that electronic components are either passive or active, with passive components not having gain or directionality, like resistors, capacitors, and diodes. Active components have gain or directionality, such as transistors and integrated circuits. The document concludes by showing some common symbols used to represent electronic components like diodes, transistors, semiconductors, capacitors, and resistors.

FUNCTION OF BESIC COMPONENTS • Terminals and connectors: components to make electrical connection • Resistors: components used to resist current • Switches: components that may be made to either conduct ( closed ) or not ( open ) • Capacitors: components that store electrical charge in an electricl field • Semiconductores: electronic control parts with no moving parts • Diode: components that conduct electricity in only one direction • Trnsistor: A semiconductor device capable of amplification Types of electronic components These are 2 types : Passive and Active componets. Both these types of components can be either through-Hole or SMD • Passive components: Ther components are those that do not have gain or direction. They are also called Electric al elements or electrical components. Example: Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Inductors • Passive components: Ther components are those that do not have gain or direction. They are also called Electric al elements or electrical components. Example: Resistors, Capacitors, Diodes, Inductors • Active comonents: These component are those that have gain or directionality Exmple: Transistor, Integrated Circuit or ICS, Logic Gates Symbols Diode Transistor
