What is computer network?
 A computer network is a set of computers sharing resources located on
or provided by network nodes. Computers use common
communication protocols over digital association to communicate with
each other.
How do computer connect each other?
O Within the network your computer can communicate
with other computers that are interconnected with an
Ethernet or a switch to the same network. The Ethernet
cable is a common medium for every computer in the
network.
What is Ethernet?
 Ethernet is a family of wired computer networking technologies
commonly used in local area networks, modern area networks and
wide area networks. It was commercially introduced in 1980 and
first standardized in 1983 as IEEE 802.3.
WHAT ARE NETWORK DEVICES?
• Switch
• Router
• Bridge
• Gateway
• Modem
• Repeater
• Access Point
Wireless Access Point and Routers
0 The router acts as a hub that sets up a local area network and
manages all of the devices and communication in it. An access
point, on the other hand, is a sub-device within the local area
network that provides another location for devices to connect
from and enables more devices to be on the network.
