HISTORICAL FOUNDATIONS
OF THE CURRICULUM
The historical foundation of
curriculum reflects the educational
focus prevalent during a particular
period or event in Philippine History.
Accordingly, it is said that the
development of the curriculum in
the history of the Philippines
depends on five motives: Religion,
Political, Utilitarian, Mass Education
and Excellence in Education.

instruction. Subject matter is

skills and values. The process
emphasizes problem solving.
NOTE:
The historical development shows the different
changes in the purposes, principles and content of
the curriculum. The different changes are
influenced by educational philosophy, and
pedagogical theories. This implies that curriculum
is ever changing putting in knowledge and content
from many fields of disciplines.

I will divided you into 3 groups. Each
group will create a word cloud and pick at
least (2) words in the word cloud that you
created and discuss/explain the relationship
of it in our historical progress of the
Education and the curriculum in the
Philippines.
