AREA MEASUREMENT

Prepared by J.A.Nakutepa with material from

AREA MEASUREMENT
 The process of area measurements using aerial
photographs varies with varying degrees of accuracy
steming from not only the measuring device but also
image scale variation due to terrain relief and the tilt of
the photography.
 Simple scales can be used to measure the area of simply
shaped features e.g the area of a rectangular feature can
be determined by simply measuring the length and width
of the rectangle on the image and converting the
distances to ground distances using the image scale. Then
multiply out the two values.
