(10) students per strand, namely HUMSS, ABM, STEM, ICT

and HE, a total of fifty (50) senior high school students are
involved in this study.

The said tools were validated by the senior high school

department principal, vice-principal and academic
coordinator.

RESULTS
Factors attributed to the performance of SHS learners:

Modular Students
• HUMSS strand said that the content of the module is very limited and the
explanation about some topics were very short giving them hard time to
understand the lesson.
• ABM students disclosed that the content of the module is easy to
understand but there are just some cases that they are forced to search
other examples through the internet because of the unfamiliar terms.
• HE students said that aside from written content in the module there are
no other references or resources such as books for additional learning and
explanation of the lesson.
• ICT and STEM have revealed the same sentiments, they said that they are
having difficulty in understanding the technical terms specifically on their
specialized subjects.
General Findings
The performance of the senior high school students using online
video lesson as learning modality is totally different to the
performance of those learners in the modular approach. It may be
assumed that the learners under online video lesson approach were

performing well because the topics are discussed clearly on the

video lesson and above it is that they understand the topics well

because clarifications of some topics are done during synchronous

session.
On the other hand, the modular learner’s performance is
considered as average, as their learning was labelled as fair. It may
be assumed that the lessons under modular learning approach were
somewhat oversimplified or the other way around. However, the
study showed that the strands such as STEM, HE and ICT, requires or
still needed a guidance from the teachers, since these strands are
practical learners.
Recommendation
Based upon the research's result, this study suggests
that the school administrators, particularly the teachers

where they should revisit the modules. Check if the

content of the module is in line with the objectives as

well as ensuring its meaningfulness and
comprehensiveness so that the modular students can
understand its technicality.
The modules should be revisited in order to check if
there are hollow content and concepts that could be
reworked.
