10. Mr. Lee withdrew ₱10 500 from one bank and ₱5 500 from another bank. He divided the
whole amount equally among his 4 sons. What was the share of each son?

We must add the 2 amounts. 10 500 + 5 500 = 16000.

Then divide by 4, 16 000
Each son got a share of ₱ 4 000.
11. Mrs. Lee bought a washing machine for ₱12 285. She paid ₱3 000 as down payment. She
agreed to pay the rest in 5 equal monthly instalments. What was the monthly instalments?

We must subtract the down payment, 12 285 – 3000 = 9285.

Divide 9285 by 5 , 9285 5 = 1875.
The monthly instalment was ₱ 1875.

12. A vendor has ₱1 600. If a mango costs ₱28, how many can he buy?
We must divide 1600 by 28 , 1600 28 = 57 remainder 4
The vendor can buy 57 only.

13. Four hundred twenty-five students and teachers will go outing. if each
bus can seat 54 people, how many buses do they need?

We must divided 425 by 54, 425 54 = 7 remainder 47

They need 8 buses. If 7 only 47 can’t be accommodated.
14. A farmer gathered 760 guavas from their farm. He placed 60 guavas in each
basket and sold them. How many guavas were not in a full basket?

We must divide 760 by 60 , 760 60 = 12 remainder 40

There were 40 guavas only.
15. Grandma earns ₱148, 800 a year from her sari-sari store. How much
does Grandma earn each month?

We have 12 months in a year. So we divided 148 800 by 12.

148800 12 = 12400.
Grandma earns ₱ 12, 400 each month.

1. Philip received a bonus of ₱6 000. He gave 1/4 of it to his mother. His mother gave 1/5
of her money to her sister Marjorie. How much did Marjorie receive?

Divide 6000 by 4, 6000

Divide 1500 by 5, 1500
Marjorie received ₱300.00

2. Four-sevenths of the students in a school are boys. If 3/8 of the boys are scouts, how many
scouts are there in the school of 1 876 students?
Divide 1876 by 7 , 1876
Since it is 4/7 , 268 x 4 = 1072 ;
Divide 1072 by 8, to get the 7/8 , 1072 134 x 3 = 402
There are 402 scouts in the school.
3. A 5-liter can of soy sauce costs ₱555. How much does a 1/5 liter of soy sauce cost?

To get the cost of one liter, 555 by 5, 555

One liter is ₱ 111.
To get the cost of 1/5 liter, divide 111 by5 , 111
I/5 of a liter is ₱ 22.20.

4. There were 4 463 adults and 2 675 children who joined the Ati-atihan festival. How
many more adults than children joined the festival if it is doubled and divided by 8?

5.Of 40 pupils in class, 16 likes Math and 22 likes Science and 4 likes both
subject. How many doesn’t like any of the subjects?
Since there are 4 who likes both subject, subtract 4 from each group,

16 – 4 = 12, and 22- 4 = 18

Then add 12 + 18 + 4 = 34. 40 – 34 = 6
6 pupils don’t like any subject.
6. Twenty pupils are assigned to form a big square. How many
