MOUSE POINTER
A mouse pointer (or
cursor) is an icon
used to manipulate
a graphical
interface
ARROW
DESCRIPTION:
• Arrow
HOW TO GET ONE:
• It appears when the mouse pointer is placed
over the ribbon, in the title bar, office
button, scroll bars and in the quick access
toolbar
USED FOR:
• selecting a command from the ribbon
• Move around the worksheet
• Selecting a menu from the office button
THICK CROSS
DESCRIPTION:
• Thick Plus Shape
HOW TO GET ONE:
• It appears when the mouse is
anywhere over the worksheet
USED FOR:
• Used to select a cell or range of
cells in the worksheet.
I-BEAM
DESCRIPTION:
•I-beam
HOW TO GET ONE:
•It appears when you placed the
mouse pointer in the formula bar,
name box, font face box and in the
font size box.
USED FOR:
* Used to edit the contents of the
active cell.
FILL HANDLE
DESCRIPTION:
•I-beam
HOW TO GET ONE:
•You have to hover the mouse
pointer over the small square in the
lower right corner of the cell pointer
to get it.
USED FOR:
Used to copy a cell content.
DOUBLE ARROW
DESCRIPTION:
* A black line with two arrows pointing left
& right and top & bottom.
HOW TO GET ONE:
•It appears when the mouse pointer is
between a row or column divider.
USED FOR:
* It can be used to adjust the column width
by dragging it to the left and right and the
row height by dragging it up and down.
FOUR ARROW HEAD
DESCRIPTION:
•Mouse pointer with four arrow with a compass
shape incorporated.
HOW TO GET ONE:
•It appears when the mouse pointer is over the
black edge of a cell or in the border of an active
cell.
USED FOR:
It can be used to move the cell, graphics or
objects in another cell. It appears when you
moved a data in a cell.
BLACK ARROW
DESCRIPTION:
•Small black two arrow head
pointing down and right.
HOW TO GET ONE:
•It appears when the mouse pointer
is over the columns or row headings.
USED FOR:
*to select a row or column.
DOUBLE ARROW HEAD
DESCRIPTION:
• Thin, with two arrow heads
HOW TO GET ONE:
• It appears when the pointer is on the
border of a window or workbook.
USED FOR:
* Used to adjust the size of the
window.
