METHODOLOGY
Research The researcher utilized the descriptive-evaluative research design to
Design determine the factors that influence plagiarism in distance learning as
well as to formulate what possible intervention programs can be proposed
in the future. Descriptive evaluative research involves gathering
information about a phenomenon that may or may not be quantified. The
goal of the study is to evaluate or quantify the outcomes (Hubbard,
2016).

Research The research was conducted at Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges-

Locale Marbel Inc. in the Academic Year 2021–2022. This study was conducted
on grade 12 students. Thus, the researchers were looking forward to
determining the factors that influence plagiarism in students. The
researcher chose this school because she was a previous student there
and noticed that most of them were copying their answers from the
internet and lacked originality in writing essays and responding to all of
their activities. Also, most students now depend on the internet due to
distance learning, and it can easily gather answers and information.
Population The target respondents of this study are the grade 12 students of Ramon
and Magsaysay Memorial Colleges-Marbel Inc. enrolled during the years of
2021–2022. Based on the data gathered, there are one hundred twenty-
Sample four (124) students who are officially enrolled in the Ramon Magsaysay
Memorial Colleges-Marbel Inc. Senior High School Program and the total
number of valid sample sizes is sixty-nine (69). To determine the
researcher's respondents, the researcher used purposive sampling.

Research The researcher used in this study is modified questionnaire from Jereb E,
Instrument Perc M, Lämmlein B, Jerebic J, Urh M, Podbregar I, et al. (2018) Factors
influencing plagiarism in higher education: A comparison of German and
Slovene students. The researcher used a checklist survey questionnaire
through Google form as a tool in getting the answers using the Likert
scale with the legend of (5) always, (4) often (3) sometimes, (2) rarely, (1)
never. This questionnaire aims to know the factors that influence
plagiarism of grade 12 students in Ramon Magsaysay Memorial
Colleges-Marbel Inc.
Statistical To determine the factors that influence plagiarism in distance learning
Tools and intervention program for grade 12 students at Ramon
Magsaysay Memorial Colleges-Marbel Inc. weighted mean was used.

Ethical To prevent being infected with the COVID-19 virus in a crowded

Consideration place, the researcher used an online system via messenger and
Google in accordance with pandemic protocol. Ethical norms were
followed during the research. The opportunity to withdraw was
extended to the respondent at any moment. Their identities and
personal information were kept confidential, and any information
acquired from them was acknowledged and reported properly. The
researcher took her time choosing an answer and always respected
and protected the study participants' dignity and safety.
CONCLUSIONS
Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions are drawn:
1. The factors that influence the plagiarism of grade 12 students at Ramon Magsaysay
Memorial Colleges-Marbel Inc. in terms of the following:
1.1 ICT and the Web, which the majority of grade 12 students use as a tool to access
information and plagiarize texts and articles.
1.2 Regulations, students have no knowledge of and are unaware of the regulations.
That is why they plagiarize sometimes. That is also the reason why they plagiarize a
text without acknowledging the owner's name.
1.3 Academic skills. Sometimes students plagiarize a piece without crediting the
author's identity because they are poor in academic skills.
1.4 Teaching factors are rarely the cause of students' plagiarizing a piece without
mentioning the author's name. Furthermore, teachers assist students in
understanding key aspects of plagiarism.
1.5 Pride, sometimes pride, may play a role in students' plagiarizing a text without
disclosing the author's identity. Furthermore, due to a lack of self-conviction, laziness,
and academic attitudes, students are more inclined to plagiarize.
RECOMMENDATIONS
In the light of the findings and conclusions of this study, the researcher offers the
following recommendations:
1. It is highly recommended that students need to boost their confidence to do right and
express their own perspectives on any aspect where expressing their own ideas can't
lead to exercising plagiarism. They are encouraged to manage their academic attitudes,
build relationships, and value themselves appropriately. In addition, students need to
acknowledge the author's identity and properly insert a citation.
2. Parents are encouraged to participate in their children's access to ICT and the Web
and to give out personal information online, such as talking to their children about what
they do not do on the internet and standing nearby when their children are online. They
are recommended to enlighten and help their children learn about the regulations and
consequences of plagiarism.
3. Parents need to encourage their children to express their ideas and boost their
academic skills. Also, they need to observe the attitudes of their children in complying
with the academic work.
4. Teachers are encouraged to educate the students to have knowledge and be aware of
using ICT and the Web and to ensure a balance between online safety and knowledge.
Also, educate the key aspects of plagiarism and give consequences if the students
plagiarize a texts or articles.
5. Teachers are advised to assist students in expressing their ideas and creating
interactions that do not result in plagiarism and to assist students in managing their
attitudes and misconduct
6. School administrators need to create a plagiarism prevention program for students in
order to be aware of the key aspects of plagiarism and need to disseminate a warning for
those students who plagiarize texts, phrases, and articles without crediting the author’s
name. Thus, students can reduce plagiarism.
7. School administration needs to provide a strategy in school to reduce the amount of
plagiarism that students report to its policies and consequences.
8. Other researchers need to undertake a comparable study with a larger sample size to
confirm the findings.
