WHAT IS REAL NUMBER ?

Real numbers are simply the combination of rational and

irrational numbers, in the number system.
The Real Number system has many subsets :-
 NATURAL NUMBER
 WHOLE NUMBER
 INTEGERS
NATURAL NUMBER

Natural number are the set of counting numbers .

For Example :- ( 1,2,3,4,5..….)
WHOLE NUMBER

Whole number are the set of numbers that includes “0” + set of
Natural number.
Example :- ( 0,1,2,3,4,5,6....)
INTEGERS
Integers are the set of Whole number and there
opposites.
For Example :- ( ...-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3... )
RATIONAL NUMBER
Rational numbers are any number that can be expressed in
form of ( P/Q ), Where “P” and “Q” are integers and “P” is not
= to “Q”
IRRATIONAL NUMBERS

Irrational number are any number that cannot be

expressed ( A/B ).
They expressed as non-terminating
For Example :- 0.3433433314333349 ,
45946578329 , √2 , π(pi)
TERMINATION DECIMAL

TERMINATING DECIMALS are decimal

that contain a finite number of digits.
For Example :- 36.8 , 0.1235 , 4.5
NON – TERMINATION
DECIMAL

Non – Terminating decimal are decimal that

contain a infinite number of digits.
For Example :- 0.333 , 1.929292 , 7.689689

FUNDAMENTAL THEOREM OF
ARITHMETIC

In number theory, the fundamental theorem of

Arithmetic, also called the unique factorization theorem,
states that every integer greater than 1 either is prime
itself or is the product of prime number, and that this
product is unique upto the order of the factory.
PROOF OF F.T.A
PROOF OF F.T.A
APPLICATION OF F.T.A

 We can find the total number of Divisors of a given number “n”.

 We can find the sum of the Divisors of the number “n”.
 We can proud that there exists infinitely many prime number.
 We can classify any number as prime or composite without even
calculating.
 We can also prove that some numbers are irrational in nature.
 Wecan also find that the sum of “n” consecutive integers is divisible by
“n”!

SOLUTION
Example : Find the HCF of 126, 162, and 180
using the fundamental theorem of arithmetic.

Solution: We will first find the prime factorization of 126, 162, and
180.Prime factors of 126 = 21 × 32 × 71Prime factors of 162 = 21 ×
34Prime factors of 180 = 22 × 32 × 51By using the fundamental
theorem of arithmetic, we know that the HCF is the product of the
smallest power of each common prime factor. Thus, HCF (126, 162,
180) = 21 × 32 = 18.Therefore, HCF (126, 162, 180) = 18.
