Bullying
Homeroom Activity Number 3
Good morning! How are you doing? I hope you are okay! For today, I
will be sharing to you one important topic that you need to know
which will help you and your classmates. Do you want to know what
that it is? Very well then!
  OLLIE IS SCARED

Ollie doesn't feel like going to school because of some

bullies. Luckily his mother and teacher have a plan.
“I do not want to go to school today, I feel a bit sick”, Ollie
told his mother at breakfast.
His mother frowned. “Do you have a Math test?”, his
mother asked.
“No, we do not have. I just feel sick” Ollie said.
Ollie sometimes felt sick before school. His mother wondered why.
“If you have a school problem just tell me about it.” His mother hugged him tight.
“When I was a little girl, sometimes the other children called me bad names.”

“Why did they do that?”, Ollie asked.

“Some children can do bad things especially if they feel bad about
themselves. Is that your problem in school?”, his mother asked.

Ollie took a long time to answer. “Yes, it is.
How did you guess?”
“Because you often get sick when you go to
school. Mothers guess these things…”
They call me Itsy-Bitsy-Ollie, Mini-Me, bad things like that. Now all the other kids call me
things, too. Just because I am a bit small and it hurts”, Ollie said with a tear on his face.
His mother was quiet and then asked, “Did you tell your teacher about it?’
“No. They would tease me more if I tell teacher about it.”

“Bullying is wrong, Ollie. Maybe we could talk to your teacher together. Would that be
okay?”, his mother asked.
Ollie had to think for a long time before he answered. He did not like the idea at all.
“It will make things worse…”, he frowned. But then he thought it was worth a try.
Ollie and his mother met up with his teacher after school with nobody around. Ollie’s
teacher was happy that he told him of what is happening.

“I had an idea that something was going on and thank you for
telling me about it, Ollie. You did the right thing. When someone is
bullying you, you must tell an adult like your mother or teacher
about it”, his teacher said.
The next day in school, Ollie’s teacher told the class: “Some school
do not have a Bullying Project, and with all your help, I would like
to start one in our school. What do you think? Will all of you help
me?”
Ollie’s teacher started their project in Art Class: Speak Up – Stand
Up! All the pupils agreed that the rules were good:
1. Tell a grown up when you see bullying.
2. Stand up for others.
They made paintings of the rules, and they made
badges.

“It’s really quite easy!” All the pupils agreed.

Nobody ever knew that it was because Ollie and
his mother talked to the teacher. But now, their
school is a much nicer place for ALL the pupils:
name calling has stopped and that is how it
should be!

What do you think is
the story all about? Yes,
you are right! It is about
bullying and its bad
effect to a person.

When someone says or

does bad things to you, do
not be afraid to tell
someone about it. Because
like what Ollie’s mother
said, bullying is bad.
Bring out your
worksheet entitled
Task 1: Buddy or
Bully.
If you were not able to
print the worksheet
yet, it is okay. Here is
what you will do.
Get a paper and draw a
happy face if the
statement describes a
buddy or a sad face if it
describes a bully.
With the activity that you just
had, I hope that you will choose
to become a buddy and not a
bully.

Do you want to know more

about bullying and what you
can do when you are bullied or
see someone being bullied?
Very well then!
Also remember that bullying is not
only done when someone physically
hurts a person but it also includes
saying bad things about a person,
trying to not include someone in
activities, spreading bad things
about a person, and bullying can
also happen even through the
internet.
Bullying can hurt someone and
make them sad. It can also make
someone feel bad about himself
or herself. That is why, bullying
is said to be a wrong action.

For the last activity, we want

you to show how you can
support Ollie and his
classmates in standing up
against bullies!
Bring out your
worksheet entitled
Task 2: Anti – Bully
Checklist.
If you were not able to
print the worksheet
yet, it is okay. Here is
what you will do.

Get the paper you used a

while ago and on the back,
copy the items that can
show your support on the
Anti-Bullying campaign of
Ollie and his classmates.
Congratulations! Now you are already
one with Ollie and his classmates in
standing up against bullies and
bullying. To finally end our activity, I
want you to raise your hands and recite
the pledge against bullying.
