Good morning! How are you doing? I hope that you are okay! We
miss you! But as much as we want to see you in school, we have to
think of your health and safety first. But do not be sad. Though you are
Introduction not in school, we still prepared activities for you to work on. Are you
ready to know what these are? Well then! First, do you want to hear a
story? In listening, what do you usually use? Yes! Very good your ears!
Now are you ready to listen? Then let us begin…

THE TWIN SISTERS

This is a story about twin sisters, Katrinka and Matilda. Matilda could not be told from
Katrinka, but the minute either of them spoke you would know which was Matilda and
which was Katrinka.

Matilda, who lived in the bare cottage, was sour and
disagreeable, while Katrinka was happy and cheery.

All the children of the little village loved Katrinka, for she
always had a cookie in her apron pocket to give them
and smile cheerily at them through her glasses. And all
the children avoided Matilda, for sometimes mistaking her
for Katrinka, she would pinch their nose.

Matilda’s life was lonely and cold; no one went to see her.
She was always unhappy. Katrinka’s house always echoed
with the laughter of children; everyone went to see her. She
was always joyful and cheery.

One night while Matilda sat at her dark window looking

across at Katrinka’s house, she saw a crowd of people tip-
toeing up to the stoop with baskets under their arms and
flowers in their hands and when all had crowded upon the
porch they stamped their feet and made a great noise.

Matilda was very angry, but Katrinka ran laughing to the door and greeted all with her
kindliest smile. It was a surprise party for Katrinka, for it was her birthday.

Matilda got mad because of the noise. Katrinka then thought

of an idea and that is for them to switch places for 3 days.
Matilda did not agree at first but eventually was convinced.
The people greeted Matilda thinking she was Katrinka
everytime they would pass by her house. Matilda forced a
smile at first, then eventually enjoyed being greeted and
smiled at and realized that there is far more pleasure in being
happy than in being unhappy. Matilda thanked Katrinka for
the idea. Reference: Twin Sisters. Retrieved from

Did you enjoy the story? What did you learn from it? Very well! Just like the story, in order to
be happy ourselves we must reflect happiness to others, and the more cheer we give to
others the more joy we receive ourselves. So, my dear Louisian, always choose to be
happy, okay? What else did you learn? Yes, very well! That however alike some people or
things are, there will be chances that they are different. And because of that, let us
proceed with the next activity. Are you ready to know what it is? Magnificent!

We have mentioned that some things may look the same
but there will still be instances that they are different. For the next
activity, you are to observe the pictures presented to you and
look for their differences and encircle them. Is the instruction
Activity clear? Always remember, be very careful. You may now begin! 

3 |Homeroom Enrichment 2
There are 10 differences in this picture. Enjoy looking!

How fast did you find the differences in the pictures? What did you do in order to find
the difference? Great! Just like what I told you a while ago, as long as you look
deeper, you will be able to easily find the answer. Good job!

Did you have fun? How were you able to find the differences? Correct! You have to
look deeper and concentrate in order for you to find the answer. Do you want to
work on another activity? Wow! I am glad you are very active in participating with
the different activities.

For the next activity, I want you to carefully look at the pictures and choose what does
not belong. After finding the picture, cross it out. Are you ready? Then you may now
start!

TASK 2: WHAT DOES NOT BELONG?

How long did you look for the pictures that do not belong? Again, always
remember that no matter how long it took you to find the answer, you always have
to put in mind to look closely first before answering. Very good! Do you now have
an idea what our activity is about? Well then. Do you know what you just did? Yes!
You used your critical thinking skill to answer all the activities.

5 |Homeroom Enrichment 2
What is CRITICAL THINKING? It is just like what you did a while ago. How were you able
to find the correct answer to the items? Yes! You looked carefully and analyzed! That
is critical thinking.

Why is critical thinking important to us? Do you want to know why? Critical thinking is
important for us to learn how to find solutions to a problem. What then is critical thinking?
Critical thinking is the ability to think clearly and rationally,
understanding the logical connection between ideas. Learning to think
critically is one of the most important skills that you will need in the
future.
Or in other words, you just need to look very well at a picture
or a situation before answering. It is simple, right?

Now, are you ready to know what is next? For the last activity, I
want you to draw a circle around the picture that has something in
Integration common with the first picture. Ready? Bring out your writing
material then and you may now start! 

TASK 3: ASSOCIATION

6 |Homeroom Enrichment 2
How did it go?! I know at the start it is difficult. Remember when you were in Kindergarten and you
were learning the letters in the Alphabet? It was a little difficult right? But look now, you are
already very good at it. It is just the same, as you went on with the activities, it became easier
because just like what I have mentioned a while ago, you are starting to enhance your critical
thinking skills. I hope you enjoyed and learned something from the activities. Always remember,
that when you see outside the box, you can see things beyond what is being shown. 
