Being a teacher…
Most studies have found that special education teachers find it very difficult to
achieve satisfaction in their work. Several factors are seen to cause this to
happen. Competent parties such as ministries, state education offices, district
levels and schools should also focus on the welfare of teachers which involves the
value of their job satisfaction. This is important in helping to improve student
achievement.

SPECIAL EDUCATION IN MALAYSIA
• In Malaysia, our effort to educate the people of this nation, those who are
special needs persons will not be forgotten. The Ministry of Education
(MoE) will continue to upgrade its services to meet the needs of these
students at all levels from pre-school to tertiary education;
• Special education is a term which has a broad scope, which not only concern
with any necessary service or approach for children with various forms of
disabilities, but also concern with the learning of gifted children and other
marginalized children;
• However, policy development is merely “tips of the iceberg” and most of
the challenges is what form and how do we translate those policies;
The Malaysian mission of education
endorses the UNESCO declaration of
‘Education for All’ and the ‘No Child Left
Behind’ policy for the purpose of sustainable
development.
Whereby, the Islamic point of view looks at
how to implement the main message of
Surah ‘Abasa.
POLICY INTO PRACTICE
• Inclusive education policy has a greater success with the involvement and
dedication of special education associations in educational programmes for
special children in schools such as NGOs;
• The awareness and understanding are found to be critical for the success
of inclusive education by the concept of ‘equal opportunity for all”;
• Parental and community support is required to fulfill the inclusive
education programmes;
• The need for dedicated and committed teachers with continuous training
and professional development; and
• The implementation of integrated and inclusive syllabus and assessment.
