Lautla's Ramchandrapur canal
at Basila in the capital's
Mohammadpur
The 8 km long Ramchandrapur
canal originates from Turag and
flows into the Buriganga
through Ramchandrapur of
Ramchandrapur mouza,
Rayerbazar slaughterhouse and
military cemetery.
Ramchandrapur canal is about
100 feet wide from the place
where the combined flow starts.
The maintenance of this canal is
the responsibility of Bangladesh
Water Development Board

Note :
In 2019, canal was filled about 100 meters north of
the Battala culvert on Bochila Road. About some
trucks have been kept there.Ramchandrapur bus
stand.
Put up a signboard in the filled area on the side of
the road. It has the names of ‘Bangladesh Inter-
District Truck Drivers Union Mohammadpur
Branch’ and ‘Dhaka Metropolitan Truck Owners
Association, Mohammadpur Dhaka’ and the
designated place for the proposed truck stand.

Note :
The DNCC launched an operation to rescue the
Ramchandra canal in Lautla from January 23,
2022. In the last three days, the truck stand, multi-
storey market, raw market, workshop and
residential buildings on the canal were evicted. No
installation shall be allowed on either side of all the
canals up to at least 20 feet of the demarcated
boundary.
