Creo Parametric
Introduction
There are two types of software, one are used for solid model designs which includes creo, Pro E, Solidworks
and so on.
The other types of softwares are used for analysis and simulation which includes Ansys, HyperMesh, COSMOL
etc.
Creo Parametric is a solid model software used for creating complex designs with great precisions.
In creo, the design process consists of
1. Sketching
2. Converting the sketch into features and parts
3. Assembling parts
4. Extracting views from parts and assemblies
5. Manufacturing the final part or assembly
2
All these steps are divided into different modes in creo namely,
Sketch, part, assembly, manufacturing, drawing
3
To start creo,
click on the creo parametric
4
Click on the “part” and then on “ok”
5
To start sketching, click on one of the planes on which you want to sketch and then click on “sketch”
For example, I want to sketch on “Top” plane so I will select top.
6
After you have clicked on “sketch” now to make the sketching plane parallel to the screen, click on the “sketch
view” from the graphics tools.
7
After the sketching plane has become parallel to the screen, you can start sketching.
1. Line
8
Define the starting point
9
To change the dimensions, double click on dimensions and type new dimensions.
10
Rectangle
1. Corner rectangle
Click on “ corner rectangle”
11
Click to define the first corner of rectangle and then drag and click to define the other end of rectangle
12
To change the dimensions, right-double click on the dimensions and enter the new dimensions from
keyboard
13
2.Slanted rectangle
14
Click on the drawing area from where you want to start the slanted rectangle.
15
Click again to specify the ending of slanted rectangle.
16
3.Center rectangle
17
Click on the drawing area by defining the centre 1st and then the corners
18
4.Parallelogram
To make a parallelogram, click on it
19
Click on the starting and ending point and then drag the mouse to give it angle
20
Circle
21
Right click in the drawing area to define the center, then drag the mouse and right click again to define the
radius
22
to change the diameter of circle, click on its diameter dimensions and enter new dimension from keyboard
23
2. Concentric circle
24
Click on the already available center
25
Right click to define the radius/diameter of circle
26
3. 3 point circle
27
Right click in the drawing area to define 1st point, click again where you want to allocate 2nd point and then
the 3rd point.
28
4. 3 tangent circle
29
Draw 3 lines on which you want to make the circle tangent via line command.
30
Click on the tangent circle and make it tangent to the 3 lines by selecting each line.
31
Arc
1. 3 point arc
Click on the 3 point arc
32
Click on the region in the drawing area from where you want to start the arc, that will be considered as
starting point, click again to define the end point and the 3rd click will define the radius of the arc.
33
To change the radius of the arc, click on the radius and enter the new radius from keyboard
The procedure for the remaining types of arcs is just the same as the types of circles.
34
Ellipse
35
Click on the drawing area from where you want to start the diameter of the major axis, click again to identify
the end point.
36
Drag the mouse and click to define the radius of the minor axis of the ellipse
37
2. Center and axis ellipse
38
Click on the drawing area to define the center and the end points of the major axis
39
Right click again to define the radius of the minor axis.
40
Spline
41
Click on the drawing area to define starting point, then keep on clicking to define number of interpolation
points and finally the end point.
42
Fillet
Circular
Click on the circular fillet
43
Make a rectangle or any shape of which edges you want to make circular, click on the point of one side from
where you want to begin the circular fillet and then click on the point of the other side where you want to
end the circular fillet
44
In circular, you can see the construction lines after fillet has been applied.
45
In circular trim, the construction lines also disappears after circular trim is applied to a certain edge.
46
Chamfer
47
Make a rectangle and then click on two points of two sides which you want to get chamfered.
In chamfer, the construction lines are visible
48
In chamfer trim, the construction lines disappear.
49
Text
To write the name of part or to add any other description, text command is used.
Click on the text
50
Click on the drawing area where you want to write. The length of line will define the height of text
51
After you define the height of the text, a pop-up window will appear
52
Enter the text which you want to appear in the drawing area, for example, I have entered graphics
53
It will appear as shown in the drawing area
54
Offset
It is used to re-generate the selected entity at the given offset distance.
55
After clicking on the offset, this box will appear,
Select single if you want to offset single entity, select chain if you want to offset two or more entities, select
loop if you want to offset any closed figure.
56
Click on the side that you want to offset
57
This box will appear, enter the offset distance and click ok, enter a negative value if you want to generate
offset in the opposite direction of arrow head.
58
The single side is offseted at the distance of entered value.
59
Thicken
It is used to create a certain thickness at a certain offset value.
60
This box will appear
Select single if you want to thicken single entity, select chain if you want to thicken two or more entities, select
loop if you want to thicken any closed figure.
61
Select the line that you want to get thicken
62
Enter the value of thickness and click enter
63
Enter the offset distance
64
The line gets thicken at the desired offset distance
65
Pallete
It is used to import different shapes
66
The box having different polygons, profiles, shapes and stars will appear.
67
Select the desired shape
68
Drag the shape and release it in the drawing area.
This is the desired shape
69
Thank you !
