"Education is the best option for the development of people"

Theme
Development of a wastewater treatment system of the BICU University, through the use of the
vetiver plant (Chrysopogon zizanioides).

Objectives
General objective.

 Contribute to improving the quality of wastewater produced at BICU University, through the
implementation of a wastewater treatment system using the Vetiver plant (Chrysopogon
zizanioides).
Specific objective.

 Design a wastewater treatment system to reduce the level of pollution of wastewater produced by BICU
University.

 Identify the pollution points of the BICU university, where the wastewater is discharged to treat it through the
wastewater treatment system to be implemented.

 Implement the wastewater treatment system so that in the present and future the water treated by the
university community can be reused.
 Determine the percentage of decontamination of the wastewater of the BICU university, when using
the Vetiver plant (Chrysopogon zizanioides).

 Show the community in general the results obtained from the implementation of the wastewater
treatment system so that, in the future, they can make the decision to implement it or not from their
homes to reduce damage to the environment and the neighborhood itself.

 Propose preventive measures to the university community, so that the amount of wastewater
produced can be reduced and achieve a better use and saving of the water resource.
Justification.
The project wants to be carried out at BICU University, because it lacks a wastewater treatment
system. It is known that the management and maintenance of the pools was not carried out in a
timely manner in recent years, so that this has caused serious consequences today as it is, the
emanation of bad odors and the runoff of sewage from septic tanks, to other sources of water.
That is why it is of vital importance to develop a wastewater treatment system, to reduce the level
of pollution of the water produced in the university and avoid the emergence of secondary
problems such as diseases of nearby residents. In this way, the project would be a way to
contribute to improving the quality of life and environmental quality.
The beneficiaries of the project to be carried out would be the following:

Direct beneficiaries.

The direct beneficiaries will be first of all the Bicu University, because it will reduce the levels of
pollution of the wastewater produced by the university community, and, secondly, all those
entities such as companies or cooperatives that in their activities produce wastewater and have the
need to implement it.

Indirect beneficiaries.

Indirect beneficiaries will be those who have to resort to consulting project information, such as
academic readers (students, teachers, literature consultants), among others.
