• Mental health stigma is a pervasive issue that hinders
individuals from accessing the necessary support.
• Extensive research has consistently highlighted the
presence of negative attitudes towards mental health,
which significantly impacts help-seeking behavior.

student views and attitudes, exploring factors
contributing to stigma, and developing strategies
to address the stigma surrounding mental health
among Grade 11 STEM students.

Research Questions
This study seeks to answer the following questions:

1. What are the experiences and perceptions of Grade 11 STEM students

regarding mental health and mental illness?

2. What are the factors that contribute to the stigmatization of mental health

among Grade 11 STEM students?

3. How do Grade 11 STEM students cope with mental health issues, and what

resources do they turn to for support? 3
