Forklifts
Safety measures:
- Only allow staff to drive vehicles that have
practical training.
- Ensure always speed limits (below 5mph)
- Maximise Visibility
- Keep aisles free of obstructions
- Perform daily pre-start forklift equipment
inspections for checking of controls and
equipment damage.

Docks - One of the worst accidents a worker could suffer when working
in a warehouse is being pinned or crushed between a forklift truck and
the loading dock.

- Forklift operator must be
attentive and drive slowly on
dock plates, dock edges must
be clear and safe.

Material Storage - Improper stacking of loads and storage of materials
on shelves can result in unintended slip and trip hazards for nearby
workers.

- Keep aisles and passageways
clear in good condition, this
prevents workers from slipping,
tripping, falling.

properly positioned, heavier loads
must be stacked on bottom

manual lifting and handling.

GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING

PREVENTION OF INCIDENTS OR ACCIDENTS


• Clearing in good condition
• Garbage and debris bins must be readily available
• Make sure that flooring surfaces are non-slippery and free of pits and dents
• Report loose or damaged flooring or other tripping hazards that need repair
• Clean all spills immediately
• Dont block fire extinguishers, and fire exits
• Create designated areas to store empty pallets

• Block access to expose or open loading dock doors
• Use personnel safety cages when lifting employees with forklifts
• Enforce speed limits for forklifts and lift trucks
• Permit access to above-floor racks and shelves only if portable ladders or
appropriate lifting devices are available.
• Heed the good housekeeping recommendation above to maintain a clutter-free
floor absent of hazards such as electrical cords
