CAPWAP ANALYSIS

PILE CAPACITY & SETTLEMENTS ARE FOUND THROUGH CAPWAP

REPORT PREPARED SHOWING TOTAL PILE CAPACITY & NET SETTLEMENTS DUE TO IMPACT LOAD

OVERVIEW & METHODOLOGY OF DYNAMIC PILE LOAD TEST:

Dynamic Pile load test is done to obtain Piles static capacity.

At the time of testing field capacity of pile is measured and than by CAPWAP analysis Piles Capacity of transferring the load is measured. By CAPWAP analysis Net Settlement of Pile, Force & Velocity in the shaft is achieved. The test involves application of an Impact Force equal to or more than the required capacity using a Hammer with weight of approximately 1 % of the test load. Strain Guages and accelerometers are attached on Pile head which is attached to P.D.A Firstly the Fall height of hammer is kept 1.0 Mt. And then it was increased to 2.0 mt. & 2.5 mt. As per the results the fall heights are increased at 2.5 Mt.

OVERVIEW & METHODOLOGY OF DYNAMIC PILE LOAD TEST:

From this fall height a good amount of pile capacity was achieved which can be used for analysis. So for CAPWAP analysis the results of 2.5 Mt. Blow was taken into study. The working load and test loads are given by design consultants as per what quantity of actual load that pile has to transfer when it will be actually loaded. Working Load X 1.5 = Test Load.

CAPAWAP ANALYSIS

CAPWAP analysis is software that estimates total bearing capacity of pile as well as distribution of load resistance along the pile shaft & at the toe of the pile.

Pile Resists load in two parts:(1) END BEARING: Transfer of load directly at the toe along the shaft (2) SKIN FRICTION: Friction with soil along the shaft (It also resists super-structure loads)

The inputs of this software are (i) Force Transferred by 2.5 Mt. Blow in the Pile, (ii) Velocity Measured by StrainGuages & Accelerometer.

CONCLUSION:
The CAPWAP analysis results showed that the pile has achieved total capacity of more than 1.5 times the design/working load at the time of testing. The total settlement of pile is less than 12mm and net settlement is less than 6 mm as per results which are permissible and within the permissible limits.
