KRA 1: CONTENT KNOWLEDGE and
PEDAGOGY

Objective 1:
Applied knowledge of content within
and across curriculum teaching areas.
(PPST 1.1.2)
Introduction

Learning across the curriculum

content assists students to achieve
the broad learning outcomes (not the
subject-specific outcomes) defined in
the Board of Studies K–10 Curriculum
LEARNING ACROSS CURRICULUM AREAS

 When lesson planning, we need to consider where this content

will be a natural fit, and then plan our lesson accordingly.
 Theskills form the foundation for our students to live and
work successfully.
 We must keep them in mind when considering HOW students
will engage with the content.
 Theskills are also how we can cater to the individual needs of
our students.
LITERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

Itrequires children and young

people to have skills that enable
them to interpret and compose texts
across different disciplines.
LITERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

This involves teaching that prompts learning that

• embeds a grasp of how different language choices and
patterns represent and document ideas and views of
the world through a range of genres
• develops a sense of the way disciplinary knowledge is
organized (for example, in science, history, or
geography).
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

Numeracy involves connecting the mathematics

that students learn at school with the out-of-
school situations that require the skills of
problem-solving, critical judgment, and sense-
making related to applied contexts.
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

ARTS
• Use of paint mixing as a ratio context.
• Many patterns and constructions in our own and
other cultures are based on spatial ideas and
properties of shapes, including symmetry.
• Drawing in 3 dimensions
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

 ENGLISH

• Comparison of 2 data sets on word and sentence length.

• Graph sketching i.e., tension throughout an act of a play
• Reading and writing numbers, identifying centuries
• Coding, secret codes
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM
 ARALING PANLIPUNAN
• Use timelines and interpret negative numbers. (AD and BC)
• Use a scale to interpret maps and diagrams
MUSIC
• Use counting for beats
• Use addition of fractions in bar music
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM
 P.E.

• Calculation of speed, acceleration, deceleration and graphing

of these over time during an action/event
• Athletic activities use measurement of height, distance and
time, and data-logging devices to quantify, explore, and
improve performance.
NUMERACY LEARNING ACROSS
CURRICULUM

 SCIENCE

• Use standard measures to find length, mass, time, force,

temperature, area or capacity.
• Use formulae to calculate work, power, mass, density
