●Is considered as the heart of the hotel business
●This is the area where the guests make makes
impression on the establishment. The needs of
every guest from reservations to checking in and
checking out are handled in this department.

Room rack
It is where registration records
are inserted and serves as room
rack slips. Front desk agents
use this equipment and
information to match available
rooms with guest needs during
registration process.
Key rack
An array of numbered
compartments used to store
guest room keys.

An index of in-house guests by
both last name and room
number
Folio tray
• It is used in the front desk Cash section.
• It contains large number of slots where
folios are arranged sequentially according
to room number.
• It is used by the Front Office Cashier to
store and track the folios of the registered
guests of the hotel and also used to
maintain the folios safely for future use
and reference.
Money Verifier
• Also called as money detector.
• Used to determine whether
banknotes are genuine or
counterfeit.
Safety deposit box
• Storage for safekeeping of
important belongings of the guests

Account posting
machine
• For posting the various charges in
the accounts of the guest.
• Used to calculate totals of the guest
accounts, departments and
transactions.
• There is a keypad in account posting
machines which enables cashier to
enter room number and type of
transaction.
Telephone Equipment
• Telephone equipment consists of call
accounting system, automatic call
dispensing, telephone/room status
system, fax machine and call
detection
Credit card reader
• It is used when the guest makes a
payment at the time of settling the
bill.
• Makes an imprint of the credit card
used by the guest as a method of
payment.

Security monitor
• Comes in a form of closed-circuit
television (CCTV) camera for
personnel to monitor certain areas of
the hotel
Multizone clocks
• These serves as indicators of the
time at different time zones around
the world
Computers
• Most useful electronic devices in the
front office.
• Input data regarding reservations,
bookings, emails, and surfing the
internet; store and process guests’
information
Printers
• Attached to the computers to print
hard copies of documents and
receipts for record keeping purposes.
Cash register
• Used for registering and calculating
transactions, usually with an
attached drawer to store cash and
other valuables.
Software (Computer
Reservation System)
• It is a computerized system used to
store, access, and retrieve booking
and reservation information.
