LITERATURE REVIEW

It means locating and summarizing the studies

about a topic. Often these are research studies,
but they may also include conceptual articles or
thought pieces that provide frameworks for
thinking about topics.
LITERATURE REVIEW

Purposes:
1. It shares with the reader the results of other studies that are closely
related to the one being undertaken.
2. It relates a study to the larger, ongoing dialogue in the literature, filling
in gaps and extending prior studies (Cooper. 1984: Marshall & Rossman.
2006).
3. It provides a framework for establishing the importance of the study as
a benchmark for comparing the results with other findings.
LITERATURE REVIEW

How? (Cooper, 2004)

*There is no single way to conduct a literature review, but many
scholars proceed in a systematic fashion to capture, evaluate, and
summarize the literature.
*3 basic elements- introduction, body and conclusion
LITERATURE REVIEW

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

*coverage in terms of location, time, respondents, etc.

the scope of the research findings and are outside the
