circulatory system
The circulatory system is made
up of blood vessels that carry
blood away from and towards the
heart.
BLOOD VESSELS
parts of the circulatory system that transport
blood throughout the human body.
3 major types of
blood vessels
Arteries carry blood away from your heart.
Veins carry blood back toward your heart.
Capillaries the smallest blood vessels,
connect arteries and veins.
superior vena cava
carrying oxygen-poor blood to your heart's right atrium, where it moves
into your right ventricle and then to your lungs (through your pulmonary
artery) to trade in carbon dioxide for oxygen.
RIGHT ATRIUM
receives oxygen-poor blood from
the body and pumps it to the right
ventricle
TRICUSPID VALVE
control the flow of blood from your
heart's top chamber (right atrium) to the
bottom chamber (right ventricle).
RIGHT VENTRICLE
pumps blood low in
oxygen to the lungs.
PULMONARY ARTERY
carry oxygen-poor blood
from your heart to your
lungs.
LUNGS

Delivers oxygen to the cells in your body. Removes

waste gases, including carbon dioxide, from the body
when you exhale. Protects your airways from harmful
substances and irritants.
Pulmonary veins
carrying oxygenated blood from
the lungs back to the left atrium
of the heart.
Left atrium
receives blood full of oxygen from the
lungs and then empties the blood into
the left ventricle.
BICUSPID AORTIC VALVE (BAV)
controls the flow of blood from the
left ventricle (chamber) to the aorta,
the main artery delivering blood to
your body.
MITRAL VALVE
It regulates blood flow from the
upper left chamber (left atrium) into
the lower left chamber (left
ventricle).
LEFT VENTRICLE
is the main chamber of your heart, It
is responsible for pumping oxygen-
rich blood into your aorta (the largest
artery in the body).
