• Holistic Perspective
• Partial Perspective

Holistic Perspective
• a perspective that considers large-scale patterns
in systems.
• described as looking at the “big picture” when
describing and analyzing a situation or a problem.
• requires an individual to have open mindset and
an ability to get a general sense or impression
regarding a situation.
20XX presentation title 8
Holistic Perspective
• enables a person to step back and consider the general
aspects of a certain problem.
• it gives rise to a more appreciative aspect about life, as
we are able to look at life in its totality.
• this means that we try to understand a situation from
different advantage points so we can see it more clearly.
• we learn to value and recognize our individual
experiences as important aspects of a larger and more

Holistic Perspective
• Holism comes from the Greek word "holos" which
literally means all, entire, totality.

interdependence of factors to another agencies of
causalities.

Holistic Perspective
• Example:

Weighing both sides of two opposing parties’ arguments

and evidences before making a judgment, generalization,
or conclusion.

Partial Perspective
• A way of thinking that focuses on the specific aspects of
the situation.
• is an important component of analytical thinking, on
certain areas or aspects of the problem in order to
understand it.
• denotes a point of view that is composed of individual
parts of only a particular not entire context.

Partial Perspective

• focuses on just some aspects of the whole in such a

way that the whole is overlooked or discounted.

• founded on the component part or parts of a whole, thus,

an incomplete perspective.

Partial Perspective

• Example:

Considering only one-sided, particular

claim/s.

Doing Philosophy and Holistic
Perspective
• Doing philosophy also means striving to have a holistic,
and not a partial perspective.

• one of the qualities of philosophy as a discipline is that it

encourages the attainment of a holistic perspective.

Doing Philosophy and Holistic
Perspective
• Philosophy avoids being one dimensional or partial, and
philosophers do not limit their investigation to a particular
object or inquiry
• they employ the multidimensional or holistic approach.
• It promotes comparing one’s view with those of other
thinkers to come up with a better, more holistic
standpoint.
20XX presentation title 16
The philosophical exercise of using holistic
perspective can further develop in an
individual the philosophical strength of
moral, critical- and logical-mindedness in
most various life’s situations.

Value of Philosophizing

• Philosophizing – or doing philosophy – means

delighting oneself to realize one’s full potential
when unleashing the importance philosophy has
in getting a holistic perspective in life.

20XX presentation title 18

Value of Philosophizing
• When you reflect on your concrete experiences, you might
use a philosophical lens to see “small and far objects”
better and in magnified way.
• To utilize holistic view, a person should acquire and use the
various philosophical (e.g., analytical, interpretative) and
related (e.g., communicative) skills when understanding
the whole aspects of a situation, problem or issue.
